**Network Engineer - Madrid (Spain)
**About the Position**
The Network Engineer (Resident Engineer) will be required to develop and maintain an expertise on the products deployed with Juniper customers. This position will be mostly based on Madrid/Spain.
Responsibilities may include the following:
- Working as a dedicated operational resource, as part of the service team, to provide product specific expertise in support of the customer's operational or engineering requirements.
- Working closely with customers and Juniper Technical Assistance Center (JTAC) to creatively resolve issues.
- To hold design and information gathering workshops with the Customer to understand the Customer’s existing network design and technical requirements of new designs.
- To understand the Customer’s organizational structure and become familiar with the Customer’s implementation and support processes and procedures to help in designing a solution that is available and sustainable.
- To carry out testing of new Designs, features, and functionality as required by the Customer in a laboratory environment and to help develop plans to implement and verify that they are operating correctly in the live environment
- Providing deployment guidance to ensure that implementations are consistent with design specifications
- Produce network implementation and migration plans
- To test patches and fixes to operating software and to ensure that they are implemented and functioning correctly in the pre-production test environment and then live environment as implementation plans dictate.
- To troubleshoot equipment and network problems and to open and track JTAC cases through to problem resolution on pre and post-production issues.
- To hold technology workshops with the Customer to discuss equipment and network problems, and to provide case status updates, including the reasons for any problems encountered and the workarounds and/or solutions that are being tried
- To train the Customer’s design, implementation, and support personnel to configure and operate the Juniper Networks products
- To assist the Customer in developing Network Operating and Equipment Operating Procedures
- Support design and operations and planning of Juniper MX/QFX/SRX Series products within the Customer infrastructure
- To peer with other Juniper employees performing similar roles where lessons learned may help minimize risk associated with major network upgrades or changes in the network.
The engineer will be expected to develop secondary skills in other products in the Juniper product portfolio.
**Qualifications**

- Avid learner and generous teacher
- Hands-on configuration, troubleshooting and operational knowledge of Juniper and/or other Vendors Switching and Routing Products. Experience with network analyzers.
- A detailed understanding of concepts and guidelines of Ethernet Switching and the protocols surrounding IP service provider and/or enterprise data center networks. These skills should include:
- Strong Junos skills and understanding of Juniper products
- TCP/IP fundamentals
- Strong MPLS knowledge (e.g. L2VPN, L3VPN)
- Routing protocol operation (e.g. OSPF, IS-IS and BGP
- Layer 2 protocols and technologies such as POS and Ethernet
- Scripting and automation capabilities (using Python, and/or other coding languages)
- Fluent in reading writing English, Spanish required.
- JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE, CCNP, CCIE a strong plus
