The Role
Responsible for the continuous monitoring and safe operation of the semi-submersible unit’s marine, ballast, and power systems from the control room. Ensures vessel stability, station-keeping, emergency readiness, and compliance with operational and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor ballast control, power management, watertight integrity, bilge, and fire & gas detection systems from the control room.
- Maintain vessel stability and draft within safe operational limits by adjusting ballast / deballast operations.
- Respond to alarms and abnormal conditions according to emergency procedures; initiate or escalate emergency shutdowns (ESD) when necessary.
- Coordinate with marine and drilling teams during rig moves, anchor handling, riser running / retrieval, and simultaneous operations (SIMOPS).
- Perform shift handovers with accurate logs of operations, alarms, and significant events.
- Maintain accurate control room logs, reports, and records of equipment status and system readings.
- Liaise with Electrical, Marine, and Mechanical departments for troubleshooting and planned maintenance of critical systems.
- Support regular testing of ESD, ballast, fire suppression, and bilge systems per regulatory and company procedures.
- Participate in drills, safety meetings, and permit-to-work (PTW) processes.
What We’re Looking For
- STCW Medical
- Offshore Survival (BOSIET / FOET), HUET, and valid medical certificate.
- Basic Stability & Ballast Control training.
- Advanced Marine Control Systems training preferred.
- IDAC Rig Pass
- STCW Proficiency in Security Awareness A-VI / 6-1
