Amuse Animation is a producer and distributor of animated content, powered by an entrepreneurial spirit. Disruptors at heart, we are constantly searching for innovative ways to bring the best animated content possible for kids and adults alike!
We are looking for a 3D Animation Supervisor to join our offices in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, to steer a team of 30 animators during an interesting 18-month project.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with the client to establish and drive the look of performance for all characters.
* Work closely with the animation Leads to ensure the team is producing high quality animation which creates compelling, story-driven and action packed moments that fit within the style and pacing of the series.
* Supervise and mentor the animation crew to ensure that the director’s/client creative vision for animation is realised and delivered.
* Ensure feedback is concise and constructive in directing artists and freelance to reach milestones & show targets.
* Meet with the Director/Client to discuss feedback when it is needed.
* Participate in daily animation reviews providing creative and constructive feedback to artists.
* Approve work that is ready to progress to the next department.
* Identify areas of inefficiency within the workflow and work with the CG Supervisor, pipeline crew and production team to rectify these.
* Participate in regular production meetings to inform the production crew on animation progress including any concerns that may impact the delivery of final animation.
* Work with the production team to inform and establish shots and sequences ready for client review.
* Work with the production team to ensure the status of each shot is known, allowing them to track the progression of shots.
* Work with the relevant production crew to establish and maintain scheduling for the show and ensure the team is hitting their deadlines and is working within the budget.
Artistic-Technical
* Understand the creative requirements of the project and help develop workflows and techniques that will ensure that these requirements are met.
* Ensure the artistic quality, style and continuity of animation across the show.
* Provide references/briefs to the animation lead/animators when needed.
* Supervise the animation lead while creating the animation library of poses and cycles in order to set the style and benchmark for the teams.
* Directing and maintaining the performance continuity of all digital characters, creatures and objects.
* Preparing Episodes kick-off briefings, ensuring all input is optimised for animators to maintain the required quality.
Inter-Department
* Identify and anticipate and communicate potential issues in production by working with Script/Animatic/Layout departments.
* Collaborating with other supervisors to improve the artists level and propose improvements related to the pipeline.
* Collaborate with the assets departments (ART/MOD/SHA/RIG) to anticipate animation team needs.
* Foster a collaborative work environment between animators and other departments.
Hard Skills
* Demonstrate a broad range of animation skills, including a deep understanding of the principles of animation and how to best employ those principles to create performance that supports both the characters and story goals of the show.
* Strong understanding of the 3D Animation workflow and pipeline.
* Ability to successfully interpret a creative brief, whether it's a verbal or visual brief.
* Strong sense of composition, animation timing and narrative storytelling.
* Extensive experience and understanding of Maya in a production-based environment.
* A strong grasp of physical motion, weight, balance, texture and form.
* Knowledge of human and animal anatomy as well as life drawing skills.
* Previous experience supervising/leading a team.
Soft Skills
* Extensive experience in character animation, animation workflows and rigging (as it relates to animation) in a production-based environment.
* Ability and enthusiasm for leading and mentoring an animation team.
* Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
* Excellent communication skills and willingness to share information in a team environment.
* Flexibility and ability to be responsive to change.
* Passion for great storytelling and animation.

General Information
* Office-based in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain.
* Working shift: Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:00, Friday 08:00 to 14:00.
* Contract type: project, estimated duration 18 months. Opportunity for continued employment through successive projects.
