Job Purpose

Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching
- Plan effective lessons aligned with departmental Unit Planners, IB criteria, and NAE partnerships
- Lead lessons that reflect the school’s Teaching and Learning Charter, assessing students effectively to provide support and challenge
- Provide regular verbal and written feedback following the school's assessment policy
- Maintain accurate records of student attainment on official platforms
- Participate in curriculum-based trips and cocurricular activities, including Global Campus
- Prepare students for external examinations and determine predicted grades
- Support students in MYP Personal Projects and DP Extended Essays
- Participate in Academic Board meetings to support individual students
Pastoral Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate attendance records
- Liaise with GLL, SEN, EAL, and Counselling teams for student support
- Undertake break, lunch, and before/after-school duties as assigned
- Report any safeguarding concerns
- Mentor older students when appropriate
- Uphold the student Code of Conduct
Role of Tutor
- Take daily attendance
- Deliver effective Wellbeing Time and PSHE lessons
- Build strong relationships with students
- Support assemblies and transitions in/out of ICS
- Support tutees with CAS or SAA responsibilities
Parents & Communication
- Complete reports and attend conferences as scheduled
- Maintain updated student attainment records on ManageBac
- Engage in proactive informal communication, including positive updates
- Promote strong practice via newsletters, yearbook, social media, and community engagement
- Support Admissions during Open Days
Learning Environment
- Ensure a positive learning environment and manage behaviour following school policies
- Maintain organized, purposeful classrooms with supportive displays
- Report Health & Safety or IT issues promptly
- Promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in all learning spaces
Teamwork
- Support Department Development Plans
- Contribute to curriculum development and sharing of resources
- Provide cover materials for planned absences
- Participate actively in department meetings
- Support NEASC and IB accreditation and review visits
- Cover classes as required following the Cover Policy
- Support NAE Self-Evaluation processes
- Support university counselling processes
- Participate in NAE regional and global events
- Contribute to the development of IB curricula
Professional Development
- Use feedback and data to improve practice
- Stay updated on subject-specific developments, MYP/DP requirements, and wellbeing approaches
- Engage in NAU and IB training and cascade learning to colleagues
- Participate fully in the Performance Management process
- Support NAE working groups and initiatives

Person SpecificationQualifications & Training
- QTS/PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification (Essential)
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject (Essential)
- Experience teaching A Level, AP, IB MYP or IB DP (min. 2 years) (Essential)
- Evidence of ongoing professional development (Essential)
Experience & Knowledge
- Experience with IB curricula (Desirable)
- Experience in an international school setting (Desirable)
