Aircraft Mechanic (AD equivalent)
specializing in
MH-60R & MH-60S
Planned Maintenance Interval (PMI) / O-Level Maintenance & Squadron Support located at
Rota Spain. The Aircraft Mechanic (AD equivalent) performs maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection of aircraft powerplants, and associated systems to ensure safe and reliable operations. This position requires a strong technical background in aviation maintenance with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment. This position is contingent upon contract award.
Key Responsibilities
Disassemble components/systems, troubleshoot, replace, modify, repair, reassemble components/systems and test a variety of systems e.g., hydraulic, oil, fuel, landing gear assemblies and pressurization systems. Perform all management and administrative functions, including operational oversight, workforce planning, and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. Install, adjust, align, troubleshoot, and perform final functional and operational tests on a variety of major aircraft systems and components during overhaul, repair, or modification (airframe, landing gear, power plant, rotor drive, gear boxes, rotor heads, rotor blades, pumps, hydraulic, pressurization, fuel, oil, pneumatic, and flight control systems; safety and survival equipment). Disassemble components/systems and determine the required repairs, reassemble, and reinstall on aircraft. Install, align and adjust new systems. Connect hydraulic/pneudraulic and cable systems to newly installed or repaired units. Complete check-out procedures to ensure proper operation. Overhaul or repair parts, accessories, and components of hydraulic/pneudraulic systems, environmental control systems, flight control systems, and vent systems. Look up replacement parts in manuals or compare with samples. Obtain standard parts identified. Make adjustments and settings (e.g., cable tension, seat settings) upon completion of repairs. Perform preservation-related tasks as needed, including inspections for leaks, MLG and NLG shock struts for cracks, damage, security, and leakage; lubricate MLG and NLG strut pistons with hydraulic fluid. Work closely with Maintenance Controller to meet contract performance requirements. Coordinate with EH&S Manager for safety training and OSHA compliance. Visually inspect components to locate worn, dirty, or poorly adjusted parts and accessories. Correct problems by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts (e.g., actuators, corroded fuel lines).
Required Experience
Minimum of 8 years’ experience performing PMI on H-60 or similar aircraft. Ability to perform the full range of aircraft mechanic duties. Knowledge of major interrelated and/or integrated aircraft systems, subsystems, and assemblies (fuel and hydraulic systems, flight control systems, instrumentation, engines, landing gear, airframe, and control surfaces). Knowledge of aircraft engines, power plants, fuel systems, lubrication systems, and related subsystems. Ability to read and interpret technical publications, maintenance manuals, and wiring diagrams. Familiarity with aviation safety procedures and quality assurance standards. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams. Ability to perform work to close tolerances. FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate or military equivalent (AD rating). Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Extensive knowledge of MH-60R/S systems and maintenance procedures. Excellent knowledge of NAMP (COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2) and NALCOMIS/OOMA. Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and overtime as required. Strong oral and written communication skills. Pass a background check; must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card or ROTA Base Access ID. Active Secret security clearance, or ability to obtain one if required.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift, push, pull and manipulate up to 50 lbs independently when needed. Ability to climb and stand on ladders when necessary. Must be able to repeatedly enter and exit aircraft using stationary steps/stairs. Position involves long periods of standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, crawling on aircraft structure and around aircraft for maintenance functions. Position may require exposure to fuels, oils, hydraulic fluids and cleaning solvents. Position is located near or in a high-noise area within an aircraft hangar / flightline environment. FIT for Duty Physical is required. May require DOT and Respiratory Physicals.
