**Scope of Services**_: _UNIX admin responsible for providing SME support for UNIX Infrastructure.
He will be a primarily focused be an escalation point across the team for resolving technical issues.
The incumbent will be expected to drive project of various nature i.e. Service Impact Assessment, Service Improvement, RCA, Guidance of new service, technical Assistance to other team membersetc.
L3 technical experts resolve issues that are typically subtle.
L3 engineers participate in management, prioritization, minor enhancements, break fix activities, problem management, stability analysis, etc.
- ** Service Operations**:These support leaders have specific, deep understanding and expertise in one or two technology platforms (for example, RHEL, CentOS, OpenStack & AWS).
L3 engineers are proactive in nature, identifying problems in advance and looking for continuous service improvement opportunities.
L3 engineers may have root or administrator access to basic systems.
- Support includes the following: - Insuring system hardware integrity through proactive measures - Updates of operating systems when required - Implementation of all upgrades and patches when required - Responsible for testing, and documenting new configurations of UNIX services.
- ** Change Management**: Ensure new solutions delivered by projects are fit for purpose in service and delivers the right solution to the business from a capability and cost perspective that are aligned to the AZ architecture roadmaps.
The role will ensure tight governance on proposed architecture changes, upgrades and process modifications.
**Typical Accountabilities** - Initial triaging and remediation of high critical incidents.
- Act as a single point of contact for all critical outages and responsible for immediate remediation.
- Responsible for creating / updating Knowledgebase articles.
- Responsible for identifying RCA for the problem records related to critical incidents.
- Responsible for POCof new products.
- Being the Technical point of contact.
- Responsible for mentoring the team members - Responsible for Reviewing the Change requests.
- Responsible for incident queue management and ticket auditing.
- Responsible to identify SIP and run through it.
- Responsible for availability monitoring and escalation.
**Essential** **Technical Skills** - ** Extensive Hands on experience in the following UNIX technologies.
** - ** RHEL** 5,6 & 7**: - ** Solaris** 9,10,11**: - ** AIX 6, 7**: - ** HPC Computing, Pacemaker, RHEL/HACMP/VCS Cluster**: - ** OpenStack, Azure and AWS**: - Oracle & MSSQL - Good administration experience in various UNIX flavors - LINUX, AIX, Solaris and their associated hardware platform.
- Experience of managing large patch roll-outs, Operating System upgrades and migrations.
- Experience of setting up multi-node cluster in pressing timescales.
- Management of authentication systems, like LDAP, VAS.
- Good knowledge in Scripting.
- Troubleshoot performance issues.
- Competent in working clustering and Cloud products from various technology vendors.
- SAN storage management on UNIX platforms.
- Virtualization of Docker, Containerization and VMware.
- Good knowledge in implement and streamline activities of redesign technology and process.
Activities - Deliver solutions and ideas that improve the stability and security of UNIX environment.
- Provide and maintain the overall operational quality, service delivery and security compliance within UNIX team.
- Generate and drive Continuous Improvement initiatives aimed at improving business performance.
- Provide front end support for Production issues.
- Mentor and train team members to be help provide support independently.
- Be the excellency in UNIX engineering and assist in evaluation of new products, solutions, and technologies.
- Liaise with UNIX technology to find solutions for complex issues.
