To achieve this, we are developing highly maneuverable re-entry vehicles capable of loitering in orbit and executing precise landings.
What You’ll Do:
As an Avionics Test Systems Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain high-precision test systems for Inversion’s next-generation spacecraft, Arc. Your expertise will ensure the avionics hardware meets performance, reliability, and environmental standards, impacting flight hardware validation and mission success. You will be a key member of the Avionics team, reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, Avionics .
* Design, develop, and maintain custom test solutions for flight hardware, including electronics and electro-mechanical components.
* Create automation software to interface with test equipment, instrumentation, devices under test, and ERP/MRP systems.
* Investigate failures observed during testing by collaborating closely with design teams.
* Manage COTS component selection and develop custom hardware to simulate flight-like hardware interfaces.
Required Qualifications:
* 4+ years of experience with embedded test systems, preferably in avionics.
* Ability to scope, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain high-precision test systems for complex electronics.
* Strong background in test system component evaluation and selection.
* Proficiency with test automation frameworks such as Pytest and Robot Framework.
* Experience designing and managing hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testbeds for embedded systems.
* Knowledge of test automation, including deployment, execution, and data post-processing.
* Experience developing test plans and verification procedures for electronic systems.
* Hands-on skills with oscilloscopes, signal generators, logic analyzers, and other lab equipment.
* Proficiency in scripting languages like Python and MATLAB for automation and data analysis.
Desired Qualifications:
* Experience with automated data analysis tools to improve testing efficiency.
* Knowledge of embedded software development for microcontrollers or FPGA platforms.
* Understanding of PCB design for test instrumentation and interfaces.
* Familiarity with EMI/EMC testing methodologies for aerospace electronics.
* Experience automating environmental testing equipment such as thermal and vacuum chambers.
* Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for test automation.
* Experience working in startup environments requiring adaptability and initiative.
Our office headquarters is located in Playa Vista, CA. This position requires in-office presence.
The California annual base salary for this role is currently $125,000 - $144,000. Pay grades are determined based on role, level, location, and market data. Salary will be individually assessed considering skills, experience, certifications, and internal equity.
