SotoTennis Academy (STA) is an international high-performance tennis academy based in Sotogrande, South of Spain, on the Costa del Sol. Established in 2010 by Dan and Victoria Kiernan, STA aims to provide an environment that inspires and enables athletes to maximize their potential.
STA offers Full Time Training Programmes for performance players, including competition-level groups, with year-round outdoor training on European Red clay courts and American-style hard courts.
As a boutique-style tennis academy, our expert coaches deliver individualized programmes in a supportive team environment. We focus on measurable performance improvements, providing players with the tools and resources needed for success.
We also offer a unique balance of tennis and education through joint programmes with our partners, enabling players to gain scholarships at American Universities and continue their studies alongside their tennis development.
S&C at SotoTennis AcademyThe role of the STA Sports Science department is to:
Maximize player availability through quality programming and performance monitoring.
Provide high-quality strength and conditioning training to support players' development as tennis athletes.
The Strength & Conditioning Coach reports to the Head of Sports Science and collaborates with tennis coaches. STA provides the necessary facilities, tools, and support to achieve the department's goals.
Role & Responsibilities
Lead the programming and delivery of S&C training across all age groups.
Support physical profiling assessments and reporting for players.
Coordinate with physiotherapists on treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play processes.
Assist in delivering local and international tournaments.
Monitor and manage players’ training and competition schedules.
Maintain good relations with our gym partner through regular communication.
Contribute to off-court educational materials to enhance players’ understanding of athletic development.
Ensure all S&C materials are well-maintained.
Promote the values of STA (Gratitude, Respect, Ownership, Want, The Daily Bill, Humility/Honesty).
Support equality and diversity initiatives within the academy.
Contract & HoursFull-time contract with holiday entitlements. 30 hours/week for delivery, 10 hours/week for administration. Attendance at matches/tournaments on weekends as scheduled.
Remuneration€26,000 – €30,000 per annum
Requirements
NSCA/UKSCA or equivalent strength & conditioning qualification.
Degree in sports science, coaching, S&C, or related field.
Minimum 12 months coaching experience.
Driving license (EU/UK/international).
Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team.
EU passport holder.
