We’re looking for an energetic and creative colleague to join our communications team. The ideal candidate may not have extensive experience but is driven to learn, improve, and develop campaign concepts that make our brand stand out on social media. Our social media channels serve as a bridge between the people who make our products and those who use them. With audiences in the millions, our online communities enable us to communicate, engage, gather feedback, and involve users in the world of Ubuntu. From #opensource initiatives to Kubernetes updates, launch previews, and discussions about our releases, our marketing team aims to create meaningful conversations with audiences worldwide, including developers, tech enthusiasts, and security engineers.
The ideal candidate is passionate about technology and its marketing applications. They enjoy gaining experience in campaign ownership, collaborating with others, and learning continuously. They are proactive problem solvers, experimental, data-driven, and comfortable with automation. To succeed, the candidate must be driven, organized, and detail-oriented.
This role reports to the Director of Communications within the communications team and is based remotely in the EMEA region.
What your day will look like
1. Develop, schedule, and publish content across multiple social media platforms.
2. Share updates and report on social media metrics, content performance, and campaign results.
3. Support the growth of Canonical’s social media audiences and increase engagement.
4. Create compelling copy and assets that align with the brand’s personality and encourage audience action.
5. Execute A/B and multivariate growth tests.
6. Engage with the community, moderate platforms, and foster audience relationships.
7. Create awareness around campaigns, product launches, webinars, and industry news.
8. Package Canonical’s product offerings and educational content creatively, covering topics from bare metal to AI, Kubernetes, diversity, and CSR.
What we are looking for in you
1. Knowledge of social media and communication best practices.
2. Experience with social media management tools like Sprout Social; familiarity with web analytics tools like Google Analytics is a plus.
3. Proficiency with at least four social media platforms such as LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit.
4. An analytical mindset with an understanding of content performance based on platform and objectives.
5. Knowledge of educational content funnels and video as a core marketing asset.
6. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build trust across diverse teams.
7. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on content marketing.
8. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.
9. Experience with planning and project management tools like Jira is advantageous.
10. Willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events.
