Role Purpose
The Marketplace Business Development Manager is responsible for driving the growth and operational success of merchants on the platform by guiding them through onboarding, supporting their technical setup and enabling their commercial performance. The role focuses on building strong, long‑term relationships with sellers, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring their offers are optimized for maximum visibility and sales. This position plays a key role in shaping merchants' experience, strengthening marketplace operations and contributing directly to overall business growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop a network or expand your existing network of German merchants selling on B2C marketplaces to attract them to sell on Castorama, Screwfix, B&Q;, Brico Depo and Koctas
- Conduct onboarding for new merchants and support them in their initial steps on the marketplace platform
- Assist with account configuration, system integration and technical setup
- Provide technical and operational support throughout the entire onboarding process
- Maintain regular communication with merchants via phone and email
- Build and develop long‑term relationships with B2C sellers
- Actively acquire new sellers and identify their needs and growth opportunities
- Analyze the market, competition and consumer trends to recommend effective actions
- Support merchants in increasing sales and optimizing their offer on the platform
- Deliver sales and quality targets related to seller development
- Collaborate with internal teams such as legal, marketing and logistics
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences and meetings with sellers
- Recommend actions and solutions that improve visibility, conversion and overall sales performance of merchants
Qualifications
- Experience working in a marketplace environment, specifically with German sellers
- Background in Business Development, including recruiting sellers to the platform
- Hands‑on experience managing operations, onboarding and performance on major marketplace platforms (e.g., Amazon, Allegro or other B2C marketplaces)
- Good communication skills in English at a minimum B2 level (spoken and written)
- Fluent written and spoken German
- Strong understanding of web and e‑commerce terminology
- Experience with Mirakl, Salesforce or other marketplace platform
- Understanding of marketplace commercial models
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel / CSV
- Experience in a support or partner‑relationship environment
- Highly organized and results‑oriented
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
