General Description
Responsible for environmental studies and permitting activities of early and advanced development stage renewable energy projects.
Mission of the role
* Environmental management of projects under construction
* Environmental management of projects in operation
* Support potential acquisition or sale of such projects
Main Accountabilities
* Support the Business Development team with implementation of company policies and procedures to ensure timely permitting of development stage projects and permit compliance for construction and operational stage projects.
* Develop and maintain relationships with key decision makers at local and national levels with the goal of fostering productive and ethical relationships with administrative authorities.
* Conduct environmental due diligence on potential greenfield or acquisition opportunities.
* Develop environmental study for specific projects in consultation with internal resources, such as the Legal, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Finance, Investment Analysis and Energy Assessment teams.
* Prepare milestone schedule and budget requirements to complete environmental studies and licensing processes.
* Manage preparation of permit applications to agencies, represent Finerge in hearings and proceedings, answer within the established timeline to public consultation processes, and maintain documentation of the process and conditions for all permits.
* Coordinate with the Construction and Asset Management & Operations teams to ensure permit compliance of projects during construction and operation phase.
Experience
* 5-10 years of demonstrated experience with environmental compliance for energy projects,in development phase, under construction and in operation.
* Experience in local and national environmental policy development.
* Technical knowledge of biodiversity concerns relating to operations of wind and solar power projects preferred.
* Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software & GIS software is mandatory.
Academic Background
Engineering or Environmental degree. Specific master is a plus.
