An international pharmaceutical company based in Barcelona is looking to hire a Pharma Strategic Sourcing Specialist to join its Global Procurement team.
With strong operations across Europe and global manufacturing capabilities, the company is a key player in the pharmaceutical industry and a leading European CMO (Contract Manufacturing Organization), with facilities in Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
Main Role
This position is responsible for procurement activities related to suppliers, CMOs/CDMOs for direct materials and services involved in the production of finished pharmaceutical products (FDF). The objective is to ensure supply reliability, in compliance with quality standards, internal policies, and market regulations, with a strong focus on profitability improvement.
Key responsibilities include supplier/CMO selection and portfolio management, tendering, cost negotiation, risk mitigation, and cross-functional coordination with internal and external stakeholders. The role supports global supply chain and procurement compliance efforts, aligned with EHS, legal, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Market screening and supplier/CMO selection – Leading tender processes to introduce new partners for formulation and manufacturing.
* Negotiation of prices and conditions – For FDFs, bulk, and APIs, identifying cost optimization opportunities and driving sourcing strategies.
* Contract negotiation and lifecycle management – Coordinating with internal stakeholders until signature and beyond.
* Supplier relationship management – Building strong partnerships with API providers and CMOs, ensuring high performance and alignment.
* Transfer project support – Contributing to transfer projects within the Global Supply Projects(GSP) framework.
* Technical and regulatory information gathering – Ensuring alignment between CMC activities and RCD project goals.
* Cross-functional collaboration – With FPCA, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality to ensure cost tracking, compliance, and transparency.
* Budget and strategic plan support – Contributing to the annual budget and 5-year strategic plan processes.
* Market intelligence – Monitoring trends in raw materials and CMO pricing to anticipate opportunities or risks.
* Alignment with CMO Management – Supporting key product lines and new product launches.
* Participation in global cross-functional meetings – Ensuring priorities are aligned across functions.
* Industry engagement – Attending pharma trade fairs (e.g., CPhI) and conducting site visits(travel approx. 20–25%in Europe).
* Promoting innovation – Driving continuous improvement in procurement processes and service models.
* Compliance and confidentiality – Upholding internal policies, GMP, procurement SOPs, and confidentiality standards.

Requirements
Education:
* Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences
* Additional education in Business or Commercial fields is a plus
Experience:
* 2–5 years in Procurement or Commercial roles negotiating FDF and bulk materials
* Experience in pharmaceutical or chemical industry
* Familiarity with GMP and Regulatory Affairs environments
* Experience in matrix organizations
Languages:
* English (C1/C2)
* German (B1/B2) is a plus
