Almaíso Retreat Center, Tenerife
\n
About Almaíso
\nAlmaíso is a unique place in Tenerife where retreats, hospitality, nature, regeneration, and conscious living come together. With our inhouse restaurant, we want to create something that goes far beyond traditional gastronomy: a vibrant, health-focused farm-to-table concept that brings together enjoyment, quality, seasonality, and community.\n
A large part of the ingredients will come directly from our own garden. Everything else should be sourced as locally, sustainably, and thoughtfully as possible. Our goal is to build a restaurant with character, one that inspires guests, retreat participants, and team members alike.
\n
The Role For our new inhouse retreat restaurant at Almaíso, we are looking for a\nHead Chef / Kitchen Lead\nwho not only brings strong culinary expertise, but also wants to actively help build, shape, and lead the restaurant from the ground up.
\n
This is a unique opportunity for someone who is excited to be part of the early stages of a very special and innovative restaurant concept. We are opening in\nOctober\n, and until then there is still a lot to do: finalizing the restaurant setup, creating systems and workflows, preparing operations, and helping bring the full vision to life. For this reason, an\nearlier start date is highly preferred\n.
\n
In the beginning, occupancy and restaurant activity may still be somewhat irregular, but it will grow over time. We are therefore looking for someone with a proactive mindset, entrepreneurial spirit, and a hands-on attitude.
\n
Your Responsibilities
\nYou will take both culinary and organizational ownership of the restaurant and help lay the foundation for a successful long-term operation.\n
This includes
\n
\n
- Developing and co-creating a healthy, modern farm-to-table restaurant concept
\n
- Leading the kitchen and helping shape all operational structures from pre-opening onward
\n
- Planning ahead with regard to resources, purchasing, workflow, and kitchen needs
\n
- Organizing and managing kitchen operations, preparation processes, and day-to-day execution
\n
- Sourcing the right suppliers, products, and other essential resources
\n
- Working closely with local producers and sustainable sourcing partners
\n
- Integrating produce from our own garden into the menu and overall food concept
\n
- Building and leading a strong team culture based on collaboration and shared responsibility
\n
- Maintaining high standards of quality, taste, presentation, organization, and hygiene
\n
- Contributing creative ideas and helping evolve the culinary experience in alignment with the Almaíso vision
\n
\nWhat You Bring\nWe are not looking for someone to simply fill a role. We are looking for someone who wants to help shape something meaningful.\n
You are a great fit if you bring:
\n
\n
- Experience leading a high-value retreat kitchen serving up to 80 people.
\n
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to plan ahead and think strategically
\n
- An entrepreneurial spirit and genuine motivation to co-create and build
\n
- Ideally, local connections or confidence in navigating the local sourcing landscape
\n
- A strong understanding of healthy, modern, high-quality cuisine
\n
- Experience with seasonal, conscious, and sustainable food preparation
\n
- A collaborative mindset and enjoyment of building a team that works hand in hand
\n
- A hands-on attitude and willingness to actively contribute wherever needed
\n
- Good\nSpanish and English language skills (>B2)
\n
\nWhat We Offer\nThis is not a standard chef position. It is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping a unique hospitality and food concept from the very beginning.\n
We offer
\n
\n
- A key role for a rare opportunity to help build an innovative restaurant in its early phase
\n
- A working environment where quality, health, nature, and meaning come together
\n
- Close collaboration with a committed and values-driven team
\n
- Space for your own ideas, creativity, and entrepreneurial thinking
\n
\nStart Date\nIdeally August/September – before the opening in October.\n
Application
\nIf you feel excited about helping create a unique restaurant concept from the ground up and want to bring your leadership, creativity, and experience into a meaningful project, we would love to hear from you.\n
