AESC is a global leader in lithium‑ion and LFP battery technology, with a fast‑growing footprint across Japan, the UK, France, China, and the USA. Soon the company will expand in Spain with a €1‑billion gigafactory in Extremadura to open by 2026, creating up to 900 direct jobs in phase one. The Spanish facility is designed as the first net‑zero industrial park gigafactory in the country, aligning with AESC’s mission to pioneer sustainable battery manufacturing.
Role Purpose
As a
Senior Cost Engineer, you will lead and comprehensively manage the cost control processes associated with the construction of a battery gigafactory in Spain. The role requires solid experience in large‑scale industrial projects and a deep understanding of cost estimation, control, and monitoring for civil works and MEP disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation & Settlement Management – Prepare project cost estimates; review engineering preliminary budgets, official budgets and reference prices; verify cost for engineering changes and site visas; be fully responsible for project final settlement.
Bidding Document Management – Compile and review engineering tender documents, conduct bid evaluation and tender return analysis, provide professional and reasonable optimization suggestions for bidding strategies.
Dynamic Cost Control & Data Management – Implement full‑cycle dynamic cost management for infrastructure projects, including regular cost statistics, risk monitoring and early warning; establish and maintain the company’s engineering cost database to support project cost benchmarking.
Budget Execution & Target Cost Management – Supervise on‑site implementation of project budgets, participate in overall project cost control, ensure effective delivery of project target cost indicators.
Contract Management & Audit Support – Track the whole process of project contract signing, review and audit contract change contents, standardise contract cost management procedures.
Business & Process Coordination – Assist in coordinating daily cost management work of company infrastructure projects, optimise and sort out relevant business processes.

Qualifications
Educational Background : Bachelor’s degree or above in Civil Engineering, Engineering Cost, Engineering Management or other related majors.
Language Skills : Fluent in English and Spanish.
Professional Experience :
Minimum 6 years of working experience in cost engineering, cost control, commercial management, or quantity surveying.
Experience in manufacturing, industrial plants, or process facilities (highly advantageous).
Exposure to multinational environments.
Strong understanding of procurement, supply chain, and contract administration in industrial settings.
Proven experience working on construction, infrastructure, or industrial/manufacturing projects.
Proven experience working in Spain or with Spanish contractors/subcontractors.
Strong understanding of Spanish construction law or industrial bespoke contracts.
Experience in cost forecasting, cost reporting, and change/claims management.
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and commercial awareness.
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast‑paced project environment.
Technical Skills :
Advanced proficiency in Excel and cost management tools (e.g., Presto or similar) and Microsoft Office suite for data analysis and document output. xpzdshu
