The Opportunity
Our client is looking for an experienced Controller to take ownership of financial operations for the Spain and UK entities during a 6-month transition period.
This is a mission for a senior accounting professional who is fully operational from day one, able to navigate a multinational environment, and confident managing month-end close, VAT topics, CAPEX, statutory and GAAP-related requirements, and Shared Services Center coordination.
What You Will Do
• Drive the Spain & UK month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes with tight deadlines and strong accuracy.
• Perform and review general ledger activities, ensuring correct postings, reconciliations, variance analysis, and alignment with internal controls.
• Coordinate with the Shared Services Center to ensure correct postings, reconciliations, and accuracy along with issue resolution.
• Support reconciliations between local GAAP and US GAAP, documenting differences as required.
• Assist in statutory accounts preparation and support the collection of data for tax filings (including VAT).
• Create and maintain documentation (SOPs, accounting process documentation, etc.) for key accounting areas.
• Serve as primary contact for the European controller and other internal stakeholders.
• Guarantee compliance with internal processes, accounting policies, and financial controls.
You Bring
• Big 4 experience – highly preferred.
• Bachelor’s + Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar (recognized qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, CA are an advantage).
• Strong hands-on accounting experience, able to roll up your sleeves and perform autonomously.
• Proven success with timely month-end close reporting in a multinational context.
• Background working with Shared Services Centers (SSC).
• Experience dealing with third-party VAT providers to ensure the books’ accuracy.
• Knowledge of Spanish GAAP and ability to work with reconciliations under UK GAAP and US GAAP strongly preferred.
• Strong skills in timing, prioritization, and managing CAPEX.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
