Job Summary
The Assistant Controller will serve as the Controller’s strategic partner and primary support in overseeing financial operations and reporting. This role focuses on ensuring the completeness, consistency, and accuracy of all financial data, guiding the finance team’s analytical direction, and ensuring that financial reports are structured to support executive-level decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise financial reporting processes across all departments to ensure consistency and accuracy.
* Work closely with Financial Reporting Analyst- provide the Analyst with Data needed to prepare and execute financial reports.
* Review financial packages prepared by analysts for accuracy and completeness prior to executive submission.
* U.S. state tax report preparation, review and general compliance oversight.
* Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of financial reporting structures using tools such as PowerBI, MS Excel, and QuickBooks.
* Lead budget preparation, forecasting, and high-level variance analysis to support strategic planning.
* Set standards for financial data quality and reporting integrity;
ensure compliance with internal policies.
* Partner closely with department leads to validate key financial inputs and assumptions.
* Develop financial policies and procedures to improve efficiency and control.
* Identify and assign special projects requiring executive-level financial insight.
* Provide mentorship and guidance to the financial analyst(s), ensuring alignment with department goals.
* Take ownership of strategic financial projects and act as a delegate to the Controller when needed.
* Act as an extension of the Controller, assisting with any and all Department needs.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (CPA or equivalent a plus).
* 5+ years of experience in accounting or financial oversight roles.
* Mastery of financial software tools: PowerBI, QuickBooks, Excel.
* Proven experience managing and reviewing complex financial data sets.
* Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
