Join our team as a Port Operations Agent, where you will independently oversee agency vessel operations for port calls. Your responsibilities include managing all operational and administrative duties such as arranging pilots, line handlers, and stevedores, coordinating ship clearance with government officials, organizing transportation for onboard crew, and managing provisioning deliveries for cruise ships. Based in Gran Canaria, you will ensure excellent service for our cruise line clients.
About The Job
* Act as the primary liaison between the Cruise Line, port authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth vessel operations during port calls, adhering to protocols and policies.
* Coordinate vessel arrivals, departures, and berthing with port authorities, terminal operators, security, government entities, and maritime service providers.
* Respond promptly to email requests from various regional email accounts.
* Facilitate vessel entry and clearance procedures, including customs, immigration, and health formalities, ensuring regulatory compliance using various systems.
* Collaborate with suppliers to deliver safe, healthy, and sustainable services.
* Address daily operational issues and suggest workflow improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency.
* Monitor vessel movements, port, and weather conditions to anticipate challenges and communicate effectively with involved parties.
* Provide regular updates and complete sail reports for vessel operators and cruise line managers.
* Prepare invoicing and billing documents promptly, ensuring all backup documentation is properly stored.
* Participate in conference calls with vessels and cruise lines as needed.
* Manage vessel packages, mail, medical luggage, and lost and found items, providing tracking information and assistance with lost luggage.
* Coordinate and provide medical assistance, with follow-up updates for crew or guests disembarked for medical reasons.
About You
* Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish, both written and oral.
* Valid driver’s license and access to a car.
* Strong academic background; maritime studies are desirable.
* Previous experience as a Port Agent is preferred.
* Problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
* Results-oriented with a focus on customer service and decisive problem solving.
* Availability for business travel if required.
