Senior manager, carrier relations

As Senior Manager of Strategic Carrier Relations at NTT Global Networks, you will lead the development and execution of carrier strategy across Vendor ecosystem in Central and Eastern Europe region. This role is responsible for optimizing third-party partnerships to support service delivery, operational excellence, and long‑term business objectives.

* Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned carriers, overseeing all aspects of relationship management, including contract negotiations, pricing discussions, e‑bonding, and issue escalations.
* Lead resolution of chronic support issues and ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
* Maintain up-to-date escalation contacts and vendor records across provisioning, maintenance, and billing functions.
Strategic Contracting & Commercial Oversight
* Negotiate and manage carrier contracts to align with evolving business needs, cost targets, and service expectations.
* Monitor market trends and product developments to proactively update agreements and ensure competitive positioning.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date database in NTT Global Networks related to carrier product offerings.
Operational Performance & Governance
* Conduct regular operational reviews with vendors to assess SLA adherence, identify improvement opportunities, and drive accountability.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders—including Service Delivery and the Global Operations Center (GOC)—to align vendor performance with operational requirements.
* Optimize NTT Global Networks cost structure related to access (NNI/Hub, backhauls, customer circuits and Data center costs).
* Represent the vendor management function in new product implementation initiatives, ensuring carrier readiness and alignment with emerging technologies.
* Educate and engage vendors on market shifts and evolving service expectations to support innovation and scalability.
* Explore options of eBonding with carriers to improve operational efficiency in quoting, delivery, and service assurance.
Reporting & Analytics
* Compile and analyze vendor performance data, pricing trends, and geographic footprint to inform strategic decisions.
* Deliver actionable insights and executive-level reporting to internal stakeholders and senior leadership.
Qualifications & SkillsEducation & Certifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
* Professional certifications are a plus.
Experience
* Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in the telecommunications or network services industry, with a strong focus on carrier/vendor management, engineering consultation, and strategic sourcing.
* Proven track record in managing global vendor ecosystems, including contract lifecycle management, SLA enforcement, and performance optimization.
* Experience working with Network Operations Centers (NOC), provisioning, maintenance, and escalation processes.
* Prior experience supporting 24/7 global operations and collaborating across time zones and cultures.
Technical & Industry Knowledge
* In‑depth understanding of telecom and cloud technologies such as Ethernet, Internet, GPON, Wireless access, Data Center, SaaS and emerging network architectures.
* Familiarity with network compliance standards, regulatory frameworks, and industry best practices.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access); experience with project management tools and data visualization platforms is advantageous.

* Communication & Influence: Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; capable of engaging with executive stakeholders and cross‑functional teams.
* Project Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives, manage competing priorities, and deliver results in a fast‑paced environment.
* Customer Focus: Committed to delivering high‑quality services and aligning vendor performance with customer expectations.
Additional Requirements
* Willingness to work flexible hours to support international teams and vendor engagements.
* Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
* Comfortable presenting to executive leadership and contributing to strategic planning discussions.
