Plant Director – Michael Page
The Plant Director will oversee the strategic planning and operational efficiency of the company’s engineering and manufacturing department. This role requires strong expertise in the industrial and manufacturing sector to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Leadership & Cultural Transformation
- Lead, develop, and inspire the plant management and production teams, promoting a mindset of ownership, collaboration, and excellence.
- Act as a change agent, fostering a cultural shift toward continuous improvement, data-driven decision-making, and operational discipline.
- Set clear expectations, establish performance metrics (KPIs), and ensure consistent execution and accountability.
- Embed Lean and Six Sigma principles into daily operations, reinforcing behaviors that support long-term cultural and operational transformation.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and motivating work environment aligned with company values and compliance requirements.
Operations & Production Management
- Oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure production targets and customer commitments are achieved.
- Optimize production flow and resources to maximize efficiency, quality, and throughput.
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks, waste, and process variation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all production areas to support operational excellence.
Inventory & Materials Control
- Ensure effective planning and control of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
- Lead accurate month-end inventory processes and reporting.
- Align material planning with production demand and customer schedules.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain and elevate quality standards; implement corrective and preventive actions to minimize defects.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Champion safety culture and proactive risk management practices.
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs to reduce downtime.
- Support the adoption of ERP and digital systems to improve data accuracy, visibility, and decision-making.
- Participate in capital expenditure planning and execution for plant improvements.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (engineering, supply chain, product development) to align operational goals with company strategy.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement efficiency initiatives.
- Support new product industrialization and ensure manufacturability within plant capabilities.
Maintenance, Technology & Systems
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs to reduce downtime.
- Support the adoption of ERP and digital systems to improve data accuracy, visibility, and decision-making.
- Participate in capital expenditure planning and execution for plant improvements.
Strategic Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Partner with cross-functional teams (engineering, supply chain, product development) to align operational goals with company strategy.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement efficiency initiatives.
- Support new product industrialization and ensure manufacturability within plant capabilities.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field.
- Minimum of 5‑10 years of experience managing manufacturing operations, ideally as a Plant Manager or Operations Director.
- Proven track record of leading cultural or organizational change within a production environment.
- Solid experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma (Black Belt certification preferred).
Technical Knowledge
- Strong command of production planning, process optimization, and performance reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
- Experience in implementing or enhancing management systems for continuous improvement.
- Advanced English level (B2‑C1).
