At Swift Engineering, an Assembly Technician will work closely with engineers, program managers, and other manufacturing team members to assemble composite and metallic products and vehicles for Swift.
FLSA Status : Non-Exempt (hourly) $24.00 to $31.00
Reports to : Manufacturing Manager
* Requires a High School Diploma or GED
* Experience using various hand tools associated with aerospace assembly work, including:
o Drilling techniques – both free-hand and with drill fixtures
o Trimming techniques – both free-hand and with routing fixtures
o Measuring with precision devices such as calipers, gauges, indicators, micrometers
1. Experience working with aerospace fasteners, adhesives, and resins, including proper hole sizing, torque application, bond prepping, adhesive mixing, dry fitting, liquid-shimming, wet-bonding, and fastener installation verification
2. Knowledge of advanced composite materials such as prepreg epoxy resins with carbon, fiberglass, and aramid, processed to aerospace specifications
3. Experience with adhesives, sealers, resins, bonding jigs, trim & drill fixtures, and oven curing
4. Experience doing body work on irregular surfaces, including using filler materials, scuff sanding, applying primer, and touch-up paint
5. Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Skills Required:
* Strong mechanical aptitude in mechanical assemblies, relevant industries include marine, automotive, motorsport, aviation, aerospace, and energy
* Clear and thorough communication skills
* Responsibility for workmanship and productivity
Skills Preferred:
* Experience reading and interpreting work instructions, specifications, sketches, engineering drawings, and planning documents
* Experience operating industrial ovens, pneumatic tools, and technical measurement devices
Working Conditions:
Employees will stand, talk, hear, sit, walk, handle tools, reach, climb, and bend as needed. Must lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Vision and manual dexterity are required, with corrective lenses if needed.
Equipment Operated: Vacuum pumps, heat sources, hand tools, ladders, mechanical stands, hi-reach lifts.
Work Location: Open shop environment, occasionally in warehouse
Protective Equipment: Goggles, safety glasses, face shields, ear protection, aprons, gloves, safety harnesses, respirators
Potential Hazards: Exposure to noise, temperature extremes, airborne substances, unprotected heights, moving machinery
Periodic weekend or evening work may be required.
