Tasks
As a postDoc scientist of XAIRA, you will develop your own and integrate in the group structural biology research projects, which may techniques and instruments other than MX and the beamline, collaborate with the beamline scientists team at ALBA to push serial and time-resolved MX methods, interact with the ALBA staff to develop related instrumentation to upgrade the capabilities of the MX beamlines, present technical reports and papers and provide user support at the MX beamlines, mostly XAIRA, as a Local Contact.
The following tasks summarize this in a nut shell:
1. Develop your own scientific program and/or integrate in the structural biology programs at ALBA based on the techniques and methods available at the beamline and aligned with the beamline and the Life Sciences section scientific programs.
2. In the frame of the ALBA-II project, develop serial crystallography and time-resolved methods at the MX beamline at ALBA, including sample preparation, timing setup and data acquisition and processing methods, together with the rest of the scientific staff and the corresponding engineers and technicians.
3. Collaborate in the development of the XAIRA instrumentation and methods and/or integrate them in the structural biology programs at ALBA, and expand the capabilities of the beamline and the multi-modal approacles with other beamlines, electron microscopes or services at ALBA.
4. Participate in national and European projects and collaborations in which XAIRA beamline and/or the macromolecular structural biology scientific staff are involved. This may also include the initiation of new projects if appropriate
5. Provide support to the scientific and industrial users of the MX beamlines, mostly XAIRA, as a Local Contact.
Requirements
The requirements for participation must be met on the date of the deadline for the submission of applications and will be accredited by means of the CV attached to it, without prejudice to the power of the selection body to require the contribution of the originals of the certifications accrediting the qualifications, training and work experience invoked in the CV.
Applications that do not present the aforementioned or required documentation during the selection procedure will not be accepted.
The successful candidate must:
6. Hold a PhD either in structural or molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, or any in discipline applied to these fields.
Everyone who meets the requirements will be admitted for the selective process. This position is reserved for those candidates having the legal status of person with disabilities, with a degree of disability equal or greater than 33%. In case of one or more admitted applicants with this status of disability, these candidates will be evaluated at first.
