You will design and implement AI-native capabilities inside PostgreSQL to enable AI-powered applications at scale. You will work on vector indexing, semantic and full-text search, and graph features within a cloud-native PostgreSQL extension ecosystem. You will collaborate with senior engineers, PMs, and AI researchers to translate needs into reliable, high-performance primitives. This role offers impact across core database infrastructure and developer experience, contributing to Microsoft's AI-driven data platform vision. You join a fast-moving, collaborative team shaping open, rigorous database technology for the AI era.

• Design and implement AI-native capabilities in PostgreSQL, including vector indexing, semantic/full-text search operators, hybrid search, and graph queries
• Own or contribute to major AI-native subsystems from exploration to production readiness
• Develop high-performance PostgreSQL extensions and core engine integrations using C, C++, or Rust
• Contribute to end-to-end development including performance analysis, debugging, tuning, and cloud deployment operability
• Evaluate tradeoffs in ambiguous problems through experimentation and pattern discovery
• Collaborate with senior engineers, product managers, and AI researchers to translate requirements into scalable systems
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and evolution of engineering standards, deepening PostgreSQL internals knowledge
• Shape developer experience via APIs, control plane integration, and extensibility mechanisms
• Apply best practices for reliable, observable, and xpzdshu operable production cloud databases
• Stay informed about trends in databases, search, graph systems, and AI-powered data platforms
Responsabilidades
• Bachelor in Computer Science or related field + equivalent engineering experience or equivalent experience
• Proficiency in systems programming languages (C, C++, Rust) and experience with PostgreSQL or similar engines at extension/indexing/query level
• Track record designing and delivering reliable, performant systems in a collaborative environment
