Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable In‑House Legal Counselor to oversee our legal department. This critical role involves managing all legal aspects of our business operations, with a particular focus on Business Law and Data Protection under GDPR. The ideal candidate will be proficient in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and will act as our Data Protection Officer to ensure full compliance with GDPR. What you need to achieve
- Contract management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, partners, suppliers, and employees to safeguard the company’s interests.
- Compliance and risk management: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, particularly in relation to business operations and data protection. Conduct risk assessments and provide proactive legal advice to mitigate potential legal issues.
- Data protection: Serve as the Data Protection Officer, responsible for implementing data protection strategies, managing data‑related incidents, and maintaining records of processing activities in accordance with GDPR requirements.
- Legal advisory: Provide legal advice on a wide range of issues including intellectual property, employment law, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
- Policy development: Develop and update internal policies and procedures to reflect current laws and regulations, promoting legal and ethical integrity.
- Litigation management: Handle pre‑litigation legal disputes and inquiries, and coordinate with external counsel as necessary to manage litigation cases.
- Training and development: Conduct training sessions for staff on legal compliance, particularly focusing on data protection and GDPR.
- Stakeholder engagement: Work closely with various departments to provide legal support and ensure compliance across all aspects of the business.
Must have
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent qualification in Law.
- Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, with a strong background in business law and data protection.
- Previous experience as a Data Protection Officer and thorough understanding of GDPR compliance.
- Experience in the technology or health sector is highly preferred.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
