Peregrino is a new indie IP developed by Inverge Studios (creators of Creatures of Ava and Effie). We are looking for a 3D Character Artist to join our team and help create the characters for our games. We are seeking candidates willing to work on-site at our offices in Valencia or Alicante. Remote candidates are not entirely excluded, but on-site presence is our priority.
What our 3D Character Artists do
* Model, sculpt, and texture stylized characters for video games, ensuring quality and consistency with the artistic direction.
* Prepare and optimize characters for rigging and animation, guaranteeing clean and efficient topology for real-time use.
* Collaborate with the art and design teams to maintain visual coherence between characters, environments, and the overall project style.
* Review and validate that characters meet both the artistic vision and technical/performance requirements in UE5.
* Work with producers to maintain proper documentation and set realistic goals.
* Play the video game regularly to identify opportunities to improve visual quality.
Who we are looking for
* Solid experience in character modeling, including anatomy, retopology for rigging and animation, and topology management for clean deformations.
* Proficiency in UV unwrapping and PBR/hand-painted texturing with Blender and Substance Painter, ensuring consistency within game development pipelines.
* Advanced knowledge in materials, shaders, and asset preparation for Unreal Engine 5.
* Experience optimizing characters for real-time use: polycount reduction, LOD creation, map baking, and efficient texture usage.
* Experience with additional tools such as ZBrush or Marvelous Designer is considered a plus.
* Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently.
* Patience and ability to work effectively through iterations and feedback.
* Passion for playing and creating video games.
