By joining us you will be part of an amazing global team that makes it all happen. dLocal is comprised of 1000+ teammates from 30+ nationalities with an international career that impacts millions of people’s daily lives. We are builders who embrace challenges, are customer-centric, and thrive when the fit is right.
Opportunity
dLocal (NASDAQ: DLO) is the payments platform connecting general merchants with billions of emerging-market consumers. We run mission-critical infrastructure across LatAm, Africa, and Asia, with volumes and regulatory complexity that require reliable delivery. Our engineering organization ships to production many times a day and we pursue an ambitious AI-assisted engineering transformation in fintech.
We believe the platform should be the distribution layer for AI inside an engineering organization, and that effective productivity — shipping faster without shipping more defects — is achieved when standardization, reliability, and AI adoption are owned by one leader with the mandate to drive change across the org.
What you will be doing
You will own how dLocal builds and ships software — the platform, the paved roads, the reliability posture, and the way AI is embedded into the engineering workflow — so that every engineer at dLocal is demonstrably more productive and demonstrably safer in production within six months. You will have direct exec-level visibility on the automation program and a mandate to reshape how hundreds of engineers work.
Key responsibilities
- Own the integrated outcomes of effective engineering productivity and production reliability.
- Own the IDP with standardized service templates, CI/CD pipelines, deployment tooling, feature-flag infrastructure, progressive delivery, and automated rollback.
- Own SRE and production excellence, including observability standards, incident management maturity, and production readiness reviews.
- Own AI-assisted engineering, including dCoder, integration of third-party assistants, prompts and context engineering, and guardrails to prevent AI-generated code from reaching production without appropriate review and testing.
- Own standards and architectural consistency, partnering with the Principal engineering community to enforce standards across scaling.
- Drive organizational influence and adoption through an adoption program, enablement, internal communications, champions, migration plans, and deprecation discipline.
- Deliver against meaningful metrics, including DORA metrics and AI-era additions, SLO attainment on critical paths, and paved-road adoption.
What skills do I need?
You have run platform engineering, SRE, or a combined function at a meaningful scale with hundreds of engineers and production systems with real consequences. Fintech, payments, or other regulated high-stakes environments are a strong plus. You speak credibly to both Principal engineers and execs on automation and P&L; impact.
You have strong opinions about the DORA framework and its limits in an AI-assisted world. You can articulate why change failure rate and code turnover matter more than deployment frequency as AI adoption scales.
You have hands-on familiarity with modern AI-assisted development tooling and understand that a foundation model wrapper is not a product. You value context, standards, and measurement in AI-enabled coding.
You are a builder of influence who has led meaningful organizational change in engineering practices and can describe an adoption program in detail. You operate fluently in English.
What will make you stand out
Experience with an in-house AI coding platform beyond simple IDE integration, prompt engineering, context systems, agentic patterns, and evaluation frameworks for AI-generated code. A track record of reducing change failure rate while increasing deployment frequency, with data to prove it. Experience in regulated financial services with production payment systems. A public point of view on platform engineering, reliability, or responsible AI in software delivery.
