Role Overview
As an AWS Cloud Engineer with a Database specialization, you will be responsible for the reliability, performance, and lifecycle management of cloud databases running on AWS.Your primary focus will be Oracle Database@AWS environments, including high availability, disaster recovery, performance optimization, and database automation. You will collaborate closely with application teams, platform engineers, and security teams to ensure robust and compliant database operations.
Key Responsibilities
AWS Cloud Operations
1. Operate AWS platform components supporting database workloads
2. Automate database provisioning and operations using Terraform and scripting
3. Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes
Database Administration
4. Manage and operate Oracle Database@AWS instances
5. Manage and operate Amazon RDS instances (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, etc.)
6. Configure and maintain high availability, failover mechanisms, and replication
7. Design and validate backup and restore strategies
8. Perform database performance analysis and query optimization
9. Conduct capacity planning and database upgrades
10. Implement database security controls, including encryption, RBAC, and auditing
Platform Collaboration
11. Support development teams with database migrations and schema changes
12. Work with security teams to ensure database compliance and hardening
13. Provide guidance on database architecture best practices
Skills & Experience
14. Several years of experience as a Database Administrator or Cloud Database Engineer
15. Strong expertise with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server)
16. Hands-on experience with AWS RDS and Amazon Aurora
17. Experience with Terraform and infrastructure automation
18. Strong knowledge of database performance tuning and HA/DR architectures
19. Experience working in regulated or security-sensitive environments
