Introduction
As a Product Development Engineer (CADCAM), you will contribute to the advancement of Straumann's prosthetics portfolio by supporting the development of innovative dental solutions. You will work within a cross-functional environment, collaborating with teams across R&D, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory functions. This role offers the opportunity to influence product development from concept through to implementation, ensuring solutions meet both user needs and regulatory standards.
This position offers a hybrid working model, with up to two days of remote work per week.
Responsibilities
Lead technical activities within cross‐functional product development projects
Translate user needs and market insights into clear technical requirements
Evaluate technical concepts and conduct feasibility assessments
Plan and execute design verification and validation activities in line with quality and regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, MDR, ISO)
Coordinate design transfer to manufacturing sites and support production readiness
Drive product and process improvements related to quality, usability, and cost efficiency
Support lifecycle management activities, including ongoing product and process monitoring
Contribute to root cause analysis and problem‐solving initiatives
Ensure adherence to product development processes, guidelines, and documentation standards
Requirements
Degree in mechanical engineering, bioengineering, or a related field
Experience in product development, ideally within regulated industries
Knowledge of design control processes and relevant standards (e.g., FDA, MDR, ISO)
Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills
Ability to manage priorities and work both independently and collaboratively
Clear and effective communication skills in English (written and spoken)
Nice‐to‐have
Experience in dental, medical device, or CADCAM‐related environments
Familiarity with development tools such as FMEA, tolerance analysis, or statistical analysis
Understanding of manufacturing and testing processes
Additional language skills (in particular German)
