DE DIETRICH IBÉRICA is a specialized engineering firm dedicated to the design and construction of turnkey process plants and equipment for the chemical, pharmaceutical, natural ingredients extraction, cosmetics, and related industries. We deliver customized solutions including evaporation, concentration, distillation, filtration, and other unit operations, ensuring compliance with the highest industry standards (GMP, FDA, etc.).
We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Sales Engineer to join our team. This role combines strong process engineering knowledge with commercial acumen to drive new business opportunities, prepare competitive technical-commercial proposals, and secure contracts for complex process plants and systems.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
Receive and analyze customer technical specifications (inquiries, requisitions, RFQs) and clarify requirements through meetings, calls, or site visits.
Define the conceptual process design for the proposed solution, including selection of appropriate technologies and unit operations.
Prepare estimated investment budgets by contacting regular suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
Develop detailed technical proposals (including PFDs, P&IDs conceptual, equipment lists, scope of supply, and compliance statements) together with a comprehensive pricing package for internal management approval.
Present offers to clients (virtually or in-person), conduct technical negotiations, handle objections, and provide follow-up until contract award.
Prospect and visit potential new clients with the Regional Sales Managers across target industries and sectors to identify business opportunities.
Conduct market research, monitor competitors, and identify emerging trends in process technologies relevant to our markets.
Represent the company at trade fairs, exhibitions, conferences, seminars, and other marketing events as required.
REQUIRED SPECIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related scientific/engineering field (preferably Chemical Engineering).
Minimum 2 years of proven experience in technical sales of complex process equipment, machinery, or turnkey plants (ideally in chemical, pharmaceutical, fine chemicals, or similar process industries).
Strong familiarity with handling complex technical requisitions and specifications.
Full professional proficiency in Spanish and English (both spoken and written – C1/C2 level).
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel for budgeting, Word/PowerPoint for proposals and presentations).
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Excellent social and negotiation skills: comfortable in complex, multi-stakeholder discussions and problem-solving under pressure.
Proactive, positive, dynamic, and results-oriented mindset.
Willingness and availability to travel approximately 25% of the time (national and international client visits, events, etc.).
Capacity and motivation to quickly learn specialized process simulation software (Prosim-Plus).
HIGHLY VALUED
Additional languages: French and/or German.
Specific experience in the pharmaceutical or fine chemicals sector.
Technical knowledge or hands-on experience in evaporation, concentration, crystallization, or drying processes.
Proficiency in AutoCAD (or similar tools) for conceptual layouts or P&IDs.
Previous experience in engineering companies preparing FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) studies or basic engineering packages.
