Offer Description
IMDEA Energy is opening a Predoctoral Researcher Position for the Electrochemical Processes Unit, seeking talented candidates to develop innovative energy storage technologies, focusing on covalent organic frameworks as electrode materials in alkali-ion batteries and redox flow batteries.
This contract is funded by the Community of Madrid through the "César Nombela 2024" programme (COFFEE project - Ref. 2024-T1/ECO-31517).
Tasks Description
* Design and synthesize new redox-active molecules for redox-active COFs.
* Formulate and electrochemically characterize COF-based electrodes or redox targets.
* Utilize advanced characterization techniques such as SEM, XRD, XPS, N2 Adsorption Isotherms, NMR, Raman, FTIR, and others.
* Assemble and test electrochemical cells (coin and flow cells).
* Disseminate research results through publications and conferences.
* Supervise Master’s or undergraduate projects.
Qualifications
* Official Master in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Physics, Industrial Engineering, Materials Engineering, or similar (completed within last 4 years).
* Bachelor in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar.
Specific Requirements
* Experience in synthesizing organic molecules/COFs.
* Experience with lithium-ion and/or flow batteries.
* Experience in assembling cells (coin or flow cells).
* Experience with electrochemical techniques.
* Experience in materials characterization and analytical techniques.
* Scientific publication record.
* English communication skills.
Additional Information
The contract includes benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.
* Duration: 1 year, with potential annual renewal based on performance.
