RF Technical Lead
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced RF Technical Lead to drive the design, development, and delivery of advanced RF systems for cutting-edge sensing and communications platforms.
This role is ideal for someone who has progressed from being a highly hands-on RF engineer into a technical leadership position. You will remain deeply involved in system design and troubleshooting while leading technical decision-making, mentoring engineers, and shaping the future direction of our RF capability.
Working across multidisciplinary engineering teams, you'll own RF architecture from concept through validation, balancing technical excellence with practical delivery.
Responsibilities
* Lead the technical development of RF subsystems from concept through validation and deployment.
* Own RF architecture and key design decisions, balancing performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
* Design, analyse, and optimise RF chains including transmit, receive, filtering, frequency conversion, and antenna systems.
* Drive RF testing, verification, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including electronics, firmware, software, systems, and mechanical engineering.
* Mentor RF engineers and establish engineering best practices.
Requirements
* Degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
* Significant experience designing and delivering complex RF systems in a commercial environment.
* Strong understanding of RF fundamentals including antennas, filtering, noise, linearity, and system performance.
* Hands-on experience with RF simulation tools and laboratory test equipment.
* Proven ability to lead technical decisions, influence engineering direction, and mentor engineers.
Nice to Have
* Experience within aerospace, satellite, radar, defence, telecommunications, or other high-performance RF environments.
* Exposure to phased arrays, signal processing, FPGA-based systems, or embedded electronics.
* Previous experience acting as a technical lead or leading small engineering teams.
Ideal Background: Senior RF Engineer, Principal RF Engineer, Lead RF Engineer, RF Systems Engineer, Radar Engineer, or Antenna Engineer looking to take ownership of both technical direction and team development.
