📌 About the role
We are looking for a Senior Tech Lead / Lead Engineer to provide technical leadership and strategic direction for AI and Machine Learning solutions within the IMS (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Services) domain.
This is a critical, enterprise-level role focused on designing and scaling reusable AI products that deliver measurable business value across complex, multi-tenant environments and multiple operating companies.
Main Responsabilities
* Lead the technical architecture and technology strategy for AI/ML solutions, balancing cost, risk, time-to-value and long-term scalability.
* Provide strong architectural input into the design of reusable, enterprise-grade AI products that can be adopted across multiple business units within the IMS domain.
* Identify, articulate and mitigate technical risks using a structured, data-driven approach.
* Define and evolve technical blueprints that support early discovery, accelerated value delivery, and progression to fully industrialised AI products.
* Simplify the complexity of multi-tenant environments by building reusable AI products that operate seamlessly across multiple operating companies.
* Act as a hands-on technical authority, guiding multiple squads to deliver consistent, robust and well-architected solutions.
* Define and enforce technical governance, including architectural decision-making processes (e.g. Key Design Decisions), ensuring auditability and alignment with enterprise standards, guardrails and design patterns.
* Set the technical direction for AI and ML platforms, including lightweight generative AI abstraction layers, routes to production and runtime ML platforms.
* Continuously assess the external AI and generative model landscape, modelling cost, benefits and implementation trade-offs.
* Work closely with engineering leaders and squad tech leads across distributed locations (Barcelona and London) to build an aligned, pragmatic and high-performing engineering community.
* Treat internal teams as customers, continuously reducing the effort required to discover, adopt and scale AI-powered products.
Technical skills
* 15+ years of experience in enterprise software engineering within complex environments.
* Proven ability to provide deep, hands-on technical leadership across multiple squads.
* Strong experience delivering AI and ML platforms, tools or products.
* Solid understanding of modern ML engineering, MLOps, CI/CD pipelines and routes to production, including third-party platforms.
* Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to senior, time-poor stakeholders.
* Strategic, analytical mindset with the ability to translate business problems into technical solutions.
* Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Enthusiastic, forward-looking and pragmatic approach.
* Willingness to be on-site in Barcelona and travel to London when required.
* Experience in the airline or aviation industry is a plus.
