Overview
We are supporting a leading chocolate manufacturer, in the search for a Maintenance Manager to support operations at their Lier production facility. The plant specializes in the production of chocolate pralines and operates with seasonal workforce fluctuations.
The Interim Maintenance Manager will take full ownership of maintenance operations, lead a team of technicians, and ensure high equipment availability, safety, and performance during a critical period.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a maintenance team of approximately 10 technicians (mechanical, electrical, and automation).
* Ensure optimal availability and reliability of production equipment in a food manufacturing environment.
* Plan, coordinate, and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
* Act as the main point of contact for maintenance during daily operations and peak seasonal production.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment performance, downtime reduction, and maintenance processes.
* Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and HSE standards.
* Manage external contractors and service providers as required.
* Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams.
* Report on KPIs such as downtime, maintenance costs, and asset performance.
Scope & Environment
* Maintenance team: ~10 FTEs
* Total plant headcount: 100–200 FTEs depending on seasonality
* Production: Chocolate pralines / confectionery
* Highly operational, hands-on manufacturing environment
Required Experience & Skills
* Proven experience as a Maintenance Manager or Senior Maintenance Leader in a food, FMCG, or process manufacturing environment.
* Strong technical background (mechanical / electrical / automation).
* Experience managing teams in a high-paced production environment.
* Solid understanding of preventive maintenance systems and breakdown management.
* Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Experience in chocolate or confectionery manufacturing is a strong plus.
