About us

We are a European scale-up dedicated to developing cutting-edge, automated wind-assisted propulsion systems. We aim to provide a turnkey solution for shipowners and shipping companies seeking to reduce fuel costs and emissions. Our vision is simple yet ambitious—we aim to power the world with wind.

Imagine a world where the vast oceans are effortlessly traversed using the clean and boundless power of the wind. At bound4blue, we are turning this dream into reality. We're not just creating wind propulsion systems but revolutionizing the maritime industry, one sustainable voyage at a time. While bringing sails back to ships may seem challenging, we are more than prepared for it. We are innovators who understand the perfect harmony between nature and technology.

About the role

We are looking for a Naval Electrical Designer to join our engineering team and take a key role in designing and developing the electrical systems that bring our wind propulsion sails to life.

You will be responsible for creating and standardizing the electrical architecture of our systems—from control cabinets to onboard installations—ensuring safety, reliability, and performance.

Requirements

- Develop and standardize the electrical design of our commercial wind-assisted propulsion systems.
- Create electrical schematics for control cabinets and integrate onboard equipment.
- Draft technical documentation including design reports, manufacturing instructions, test procedures (FAT/SAT), installation manuals, and quality specifications.
- Prepare bills of materials (BoMs) and coordinate with suppliers and the purchasing team to source components.
- Oversee the manufacturing of electrical systems and provide support during installation.
- Collaborate with maritime classification societies on equipment certification processes.

Required Competencies

- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification (including FP with relevant experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical design.
- Previous experience in the naval industry will be highly valued.
- Solid experience working with EPLAN or similar electrical design tools.
- Knowledge of electrical systems in machinery or industrial automation.
- Experience in marine systems and with classification societies (e.g., DNV, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, ABS).
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
- A proactive, hands-on attitude with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

What Awaits You at bound4blue

- Impactful Work: Your designs will directly contribute to reducing fuel consumption and emissions in integral shipping—a real step toward sustainable maritime transport.
- Technical Ownership: You’ll work with autonomy and responsibility across the full electrical design lifecycle, from concept to sea trials.
- Growth & Innovation: Join a fast-growing scale-up where your ideas and improvements aren’t just welcomed—they’re expected.
