The Role
We are looking for a motivated Finance & Risk Management Intern to join our operations team. This role offers hands‑on exposure to the financial backbone of an experiential events company. You will assist in budgeting, financial analysis, payment processing, and identifying operational risks associated with events, partnerships, and contracts. You will work directly with the founding team to help safeguard our assets, optimize cash flow, and support data‑driven decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
* Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets for upcoming events (e.g., Green Energy Conference, Creators Retreat) and ongoing operational expenses.
* Accounts & Reconciliation: Support accounts payable/receivable processes, including vendor payments, participant refunds, and reconciliation of transactions.
* Cash Flow Management: Track revenue streams from ticket sales, partnerships, and merchandise; assist in forecasting cash flow needs around event cycles.
* Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly financial summaries, variance analyses, and performance reports for management review.
* Event Risk Assessment: Identify operational, financial, and reputational risks associated with events (e.g., cancellations, supplier non‑performance, weather‑related issues for desert experiences).
* Contract Review: Assist in reviewing vendor agreements, venue contracts, and partnership MoUs to ensure favourable terms and identify potential liabilities.
* Compliance Support: Ensure adherence to relevant UAE regulations, including event licensing, tax obligations (VAT), and data protection requirements for participant information.
* Insurance Coordination: Support the team in managing insurance coverage for events (public liability, event cancellation) and maintaining documentation.
* Pricing & Profitability Analysis: Analyse the profitability of different experiences (e.g., Elite Desert Challenge, wellness retreats) and provide recommendations for pricing optimisation.
* Sponsorship Valuation: Assist in evaluating the financial value of sponsorship packages and partnership proposals.
* Process Improvement: Help develop and document internal financial controls and risk mitigation procedures to support scalability.
Who You Are
* Currently pursuing or completed a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or Risk Management.
* Analytical & Detail‑Oriented: Strong proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, formulas, financial modelling). Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) is a plus.
* Understanding of Risk: Basic knowledge of risk assessment frameworks, contract fundamentals, or compliance procedures.
* Organised & Proactive: Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
* Ethical & Discreet: High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive financial information confidentially.
* Interest in the Brand: Curiosity about the events, wellness, and cultural sectors in the UAE; understanding of the unique financial and risk landscape of live events is a bonus.
