Overview Postdoc Research Scientist – Model Distillation (R3) at Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS). The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D in computer and computational science.
MaPPLexiC is a European Research Council project focused on uncovering and articulating rules behind how words combine to form collocations, interpreting neural collocation recognition and classification models. We seek a researcher with extensive expertise in Machine Learning and computational linguistics to distill interpretable models from neural networks, combining engineering with cutting-edge research at the intersection of AI, linguistics, and cognitive science.
Key Duties
Lead the research and development activities of the project in distilling interpretable models from neural collocation recognition/classification models
Explore state-of-the-art teacher–student model ideas and their applicability to MaPPLexiC
Collaborate with interpretability specialists to design and implement novel model distillation methods
Improve the performance of existing neural collocation recognition and classification models
Mentor junior researchers and engineers in model distillation
Collaborate with the corpus annotation team
Work closely with the MaPPLexiC PI, Prof. Leo Wanner
