We are a small, ambitious team based in Barcelona. That means every engineer has a direct impact on the product, the technical direction, and the way we work. You will not be joining a large engineering organization with narrow responsibilities. You will be expected to take ownership, move fast, make thoughtful technical decisions, and help shape the foundations of a product used by modern revenue teams.
Role Description
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team full-time in Barcelona, working in a hybrid setup with flexible remote work.
In this role, you will design, build, and maintain core parts of the DOLFIN platform. You will work across the product and engineering stack, mainly using TypeScript, Next.js, and PostgreSQL, with a strong focus on building reliable, scalable, and maintainable software.
As a senior engineer in a small team, you will have a high degree of autonomy. You will be involved in product discussions, technical architecture, implementation, code review, debugging, and continuous improvement of our engineering practices. You will collaborate closely with product, customer-facing teams, and leadership to translate real customer problems into simple, robust software.
We use AI heavily as part of our development workflow. We believe AI can dramatically increase engineering speed, but we also believe that ownership matters more than ever. You should be comfortable using AI coding tools to accelerate your work, while taking full responsibility for the quality, correctness, security, and maintainability of the code that reaches production.
This is a role for someone who enjoys building, cares about product impact, and wants to grow with an early-stage company where their work truly matters.
What You'll Do
Design, build, and maintain features across our web application and back-end systems.
Work primarily with TypeScript, Next.js, PostgreSQL, and related modern web technologies.
Own technical projects from initial problem definition through implementation, release, and iteration.
Collaborate with product and business teams to understand customer needs and turn them into practical technical solutions.
Build reliable systems for complex compensation logic, data workflows, permissions, calculations, and reporting.
Write clean, well-structured, testable code that other engineers can understand and build upon.
Use AI coding tools effectively while reviewing, validating, and improving the generated output.
Make pragmatic technical decisions that balance speed, quality, scalability, and customer value.
Contribute to a strong engineering culture based on ownership, transparency, learning, and product impact.
Mentor less experienced engineers as the team grows.
What We're Looking For
Strong professional experience in software engineering, ideally in product-focused SaaS environments.
Excellent knowledge of TypeScript and modern web application development.
Experience building applications with Next.js, React, Node.js, or similar technologies.
Strong experience with PostgreSQL or equivalent DBMS, relational data modeling, and writing efficient queries.
Ability to design reliable back-end systems and reason about data consistency, performance, and scalability.
Strong product mindset: you care about solving the right problem, not just shipping code.
High ownership: you take responsibility for your decisions, your code, and the impact of your work.
Comfort working in a small team where priorities can evolve and engineers are expected to be autonomous.
Experience using AI-assisted development tools, with a clear understanding that AI output still requires strong engineering judgment.
Good communication skills and the ability to explain technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical teammates.
