Job Description:
The Academic and Information Technology Manager at Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain, works within the Technology Department to provide technical and operational support in the campus' world-class technology facilities. The adecuado candidate for this position is adept at working in an educational environment and managing large-scale technology resources. The person in this position is a model of professionalism for the campus and reports to the Technology Director of the Berklee Valencia campus.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support Faculty, Staff and Students in technology related questions, offering guidance and support
- Manage academic hardware and software on campus in terms of maintenance, updates and upgrades for on-campus facilities, including recording studios, technology labs, applied media lab and classrooms
- Negotiate with vendors and purchase technology equipment and software for on-campus use, as well as the student software bundles for each program
- Distribute software bundles to students and offer support with their installation and operation
- Work with Technology Director to create the Academic and Information Technology Operational and Capital budgets
- Collaborate with the Technology Director, the external development team, and campus stakeholders to define technical requirements and specifications for continuously maintaining and enhancing the campus intranet, ensuring its functionalities effectively meet the needs of the community
- Prepare technology resources for new employees and provide technical support when needed.
- Monitor the campus network infrastructure and work closely with other technology departments at the Boston campus in configuring and maintaining such infrastructure.
- Understand the diverse requirements of the campus and industry best practices as they relate to the delivery of innovative technologies and audio/visual systems integration
- Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops to ensure continued development of professional skills
- Participate on campus committees, councils, and user groups as required
- Other tasks, as needed
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 3-5 years of experience in Academic and Information Technology or related fields. Experience in managerial roles is a plus.
- Experience delivering an integrated large-scale portfolio of technology and/or media services within an educational environment. Experience deploying and managing FileWave environments is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols, server architecture, scripting and virtualization, including but not limited to:
- Network switching, Firewall FTD, and Datacenter management.
- Virtual machine deployment, backup and management,
- SysAdmin tools such as: Active Directory, Remote Desktop, Terminal SSH, Access Control Systems, VPN management, Console Ports and Terminals.
- Solid understanding of audio and video engineering. Experience with Immersive audio and video is a plus.
- Mastery of Digital Audio Workstations (Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Digital Performer, Logic, Cubase) and other relevant software and hardware.
- Expertise in troubleshooting and repairing audio equipment, video equipment and information technology systems, including Apple and PC-based computer systems
- Experience in studio recording, mixing, live sound reinforcement, audio and video networking and streaming are a plus
- Must work well under pressure, both independently and as part of a group
- Strong proactive approach to solving problems
- Excellent communication, personal, organizational and time management skills
- Fluency in English at level B2 or above (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages); Spanish language skills are a plus.
