The Role
Main Purpose of Job:
The Lab Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of laboratory activities in the secondary school's science department. They support teachers and students in various scientific experiments and demonstrations, manage inventory, and order supplies as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare laboratory equipment and materials for science classes and experiments under the guidance of teaching staff.
* Maintain an organized inventory of chemicals, supplies, and equipment, ensuring proper storage and handling protocols are followed.
* Order necessary supplies and equipment, keep track of inventory levels and ensure timely replenishment.
* Assist teachers and students during laboratory sessions, providing technical support and guidance on the use of apparatus and materials.
* Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure functionality and safety standards.
* Implement safety protocols and procedures within the laboratory, emphasizing proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
* Collaborate with teachers to develop and improve laboratory procedures, experiments, and demonstrations.
* Keep accurate records of laboratory activities, including equipment usage, inventory, and maintenance logs.
* Guide students on laboratory techniques, safety practices, and experimental procedures.
* Assist in the setup and organization of science fairs, exhibitions, and other events as needed.
Preferred skills for this position:
* Familiarity with secondary school curriculum requirements in science subjects.
* Experience in developing or modifying laboratory experiments and procedures.
* Training in first aid and CPR.
