Instructor ResponsibilitiesTemporary faculty members must adhere to and implement university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2. Responsibilities include preparing, delivering, conducting, proctoring, and grading lectures; holding office hours; designing homework, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in‐person, or hybrid).
CompensationCompensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience within the CSU salary range for Academic Year Lecturers (Class Code 2358). The salary range for a temporary faculty member with a Master's degree is $5,507–6,677 per month for full‐time load (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are typically at or near the minimum of the range and are adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term.
Required Qualifications
A Master's degree in Sociology or a related field from an accredited institution.
Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Sociology or a related field.
Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, as evidenced by previous teaching experience, evaluations, or other evidence.
Successful undergraduate teaching experience.

Temporary faculty are required to demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States; California State University, Fresno does not sponsor temporary faculty for work visas.
All appointments are contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and are subject to "Order of Work" provisions.
A background check, including criminal records, must be satisfactorily completed. Offer of employment may be withdrawn or employment terminated based on the results.

Additional InformationThe temporary faculty pool is open continuously and positions are filled as needed. Appointments may be made just prior to the start of an academic term and applicants might need to begin teaching on short notice. The pool will remain open for two academic terms; individuals wishing to remain beyond that must reapply.
