Ministry of Science – Spanish Research Agency Project Overview The GLOCALMIC Project examines the capacity of integral cities to protect migrants during transboundary crises (TBC) such as pandemics, climate shocks, and economic disruptions. It explores how local governments act as first responders and drivers of resilience, focusing on governance processes from multilevel and regulatory perspectives. Using a mixed-methods research design, the project combines a global database of 36 cities with in-depth case studies of selected global cities around the world. The post-doctoral researcher will work under the supervision of Juan Carlos Triviño-Salazar.
The starting date will be agreed with the hiring Researcher, but it is expected to be between mid-November and December 1st. Functions: Develop an index on migrant preparedness and resilience for 36 global cities. Conduct
multivariate statistical analyses
(e.g., cluster analysis, PCA). Manage, clean, and merge large datasets from multiple sources (OECD, IOM, UN-Habitat, city reports). Visualize results (e.g., heatmaps, typology plots, dashboards). Contribute to policy document analysis and coding. Assist in case study preparation, interview guide development and fieldwork. Project Coordination :
Collaborate with the Principal Investigator and a research assistant. Support fieldwork logistics, data documentation, and ethical compliance.
Dissemination : Contribute to academic publications, conference presentations, and policy briefs. Ph.D. in Political Science, Sociology, Urban Studies, Public Policy, or related field
(awarded or near completion). Strong
quantitative analysis skills, including experience with:
Multivariate methods Index design and composite indicators
(scoring, normalization, weighting).
Experience and interest in urban/local governance (e.g.,
city-level and demographic datasets ) Fluency in English and Spanish/Catalan
(spoken and written). Familiarity with
mixed-methods research, including document coding and qualitative analysis tools. Ability to work as part of a large research team. Excellent writing skills and experience with writing scientific articles for publication. Additional languages are considered an asset Languages

Type of contract:
Indefinite, in accordance with the terms of
article 23 bis of Law 14/2011, of 1 June, on Science, Technology and Innovation. The candidate will work full-time (35 h/week) starting as soon as agreed.
