Reuters Iberia is looking for a dynamic and talented Visual Journalist with a still photography background to join our team in Madrid to report from one of Europe’s most important countries.
We are looking for a team player and a self-starter with plenty of initiative to generate story ideas and inject a creative approach to storytelling. She or He will have a good understanding of the news agenda in the region in its widest sense - from politics and immigration to sport and entertainment, to culture and new business.
We want someone who has excellent communication skills, an unflappable temperament and a passion for newsgathering and visual storytelling, and is experience d in working in a team with visuals colleagues and reporters.
A commitment to preserving the Thomson Reuters Trust Principles of independence, integrity and freedom from bias is essential.
**As our Visuals Journalist, you will**:
React fast to breaking news, willingness to travel on assignments, sometimes at short notice.
Coordinate assignments with multimedia teams
Ensure safety newsgathering protocols are followed.
**To be our Visuals Journalist, you will likely have**:
Strong camera skills combined with ability to pull a story together from start to finish.
Sharp eye for visual elements that are needed to make a good pictures and video story.
Basic video and pictures editing. Script writing skills are also welcome.
Thorough understanding of the latest digital visual technologies
Be skilled and proactive in coordinating with colleagues both within the Iberian Breaking News hub, the visuals operation and on specific beats as well as in the wider region
Be eager to learn new skills, in text or visual journalism, and use new tools since you’re joining a bureau that has been at the forefront of Reuters innovation
