GameChange Solar (GCS), one of the largest US suppliers of solar racking and tracker systems, is seeking an experienced and strategic Engineering Director to lead our international project engineering function. We are looking for creative, intelligent, and driven professionals who want to make a positive impact on the planet. This role will drive the engineering strategy, execution excellence, and team development required to deliver utility-scale solar projects in Europe and Latam. The Engineering Director will oversee regional engineering teams, optimize design processes, and ensure high-quality, cost-effective solutions across all project phases to final construction delivery. This role will be based in our Madrid Office.This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who combines strong technical depth with organizational leadership and a commercial mindset.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Project Engineering DeliveryOversee and actively support engineering work across all project stages: preliminary design, detailed design, and construction documentationReview and validate structural calculations, drawings, and design packages to ensure accuracy and complianceProvide direct technical input on complex designs, challenging site conditions, and non-standard solutionsSupport resolution of engineering issues during project execution, including RFIs and site-related questions2. Regional Team ManagementManage and mentor a team of engineers across Europe and LATAM (including Engineering Managers and Project Engineers)Allocate resources across projects to ensure timely deliveryStay closely involved in day-to-day team output, quality, and timelinesSupport hiring and onboarding of engineers as regional workload grows3. Design Quality & StandardsEnsure all engineering deliverables meet applicable codes, standards, and company guidelinesMaintain consistency in design approach, documentation, and calculation methods across regionsOversee QA/QC processes including peer reviews, drawing checks, and documentation validationIdentify and address gaps in engineering quality early in the design process4. Cross-Functional CoordinationWork closely with Project Management, Field Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure designs are practical and buildableCommunicate directly with clients, consultants, and permitting authorities when neededSupport alignment between regional engineering teams and global product/design updates6. Cost Efficiency & Design OptimizationPropose and implement practical design improvements to reduce material usage and overall system costIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency in engineering workflows and turnaround timeApply lessons learned from past projects to continuously improve design approach
JOB REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (Master's is a plus)8–12+ years of relevant engineering experience, with progressive team leadership responsibilityStrong hands-on experience in structural design, solar racking/tracker systems, or similar EPC environmentsProven ability to review engineering work in detail (calculations, drawings, layouts)Experience managing engineering teams while remaining close to executionFamiliarity with regional codes and permitting requirements in Europe and/or LATAMProficiency in AutoCAD and engineering analysis toolsStrong problem-solving mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
PREFERRED:Experience in utility-scale solar projectsSpanish or Portuguese language skills (for LATAM coordination)Experience working in multi-country or cross-regional teams
