Missions and responsibilities
In agreement with head of local entity operations, the Supplier Performance Manager main activities are:
* Anticipation and Continuous Improvement: implement Thales best practices, including lean manufacturing, with suppliers to manage continuous improvement.
* Deploy corrective and preventive action plans within selected suppliers addressing process, product, or component alerts from industrial operations, customer line fit manufactures, or the field support organization.
* Act as a conduit to improve the interface between Thales and the Supplier, using lessons learned for continuous improvement of both parties.
* Develop and execute plans within selected suppliers to eliminate non-value add activities (e.g. Seven Wastes, MUDA) in Thales and Supplier processes, improving quality and reliability of procured items.
* Deploy techniques such as Six Sigma, DMAIC or PFMEA to identify failures, prioritize actions to alleviate risk, and deploy corrective and preventive actions with suppliers.
* Participate in transverse optimization actions such as Air Supply deployment, new KPIs implementations, Reach regulations, and logistics programs.
* Establish high level communication with supplier leadership teams.
* Identify transformation targets, support roadmap deployment through weak signals awareness and risk mitigation plans.
* Set up sub-tiers mapping to assess risk exposure and propose ad hoc mitigation.
Crisis Mode
* In case of local supply chain crisis, leads the Task Force with the network.
* In case of Tiger Team at the Group level, can be part of the team.
Reviews, KPIs and reporting
* Organize and conduct supplier performance reviews with the purchase department.
* Validate and issue SKPIs for the portfolio.
* Establish a monthly reporting for the portfolio.
* Prepare and participate in local Suppliers Performance Committees and category performance reviews as needed.
* Transmit SKPIs to the group level.
* Monitor and report regularly the global performance action plan addressing quality and punctuality.
Relationships with the global SPM organization and BLs
* Support Group initiatives to improve supplier performance for the Group.
* Escalate weak signals to the head of entity/region SPM when needed, in coordination with Industry, Engineering, Services, Quality and Purchasing departments.
* Report supplier performance in category reviews when requested by Global SPM.
* Contribute to knowledge of the complete Supply Chain from tier one suppliers and identify weaknesses.
* May participate in the Thales IPCA Audit and support auditors for closure of findings.
SPM Leader role
For SPM leader role, manage performances for specific suppliers on behalf of the Group in collaboration with SPM organization and Global and Regional Procurement. This leadership is appointed by the Global SPM Director. Additionally, the SPM Leader must:
* Act as a leader with a global vision of supplier performance and coordinate SPMs across entities.
* Monitor supplier performance for the group and coordinate root-cause analyses, auditing supplier sites as needed.
* Collect and coordinate action plans across entities and lead performance reviews at supplier level by coordinating SPMs across entities.
