Head of Boarding HomeThe Head of Residential Life is a key leadership position in Yago Boarding Home and is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the programme. The candidate will create a safe and nurturing environment for the school's boarding students, ensuring a positive experience for them that aligns with the school's mission and guiding principles. Additionally, the candidate should possess a high level of cultural competence and comfort and experience working with diverse populations. Given the nature of this role in a boarding community, there will be considerable out of hours requirements. They should be empathetic to the needs of boarding students, their families and the boarding community and will act as a guardian, providing a supportive and structured environment where every student is known and feels a sense of belonging.The Head of Residential Life is a member of the Coordinator Management Team. He also carries out admissions, administrative and marketing activities directly involved with The Yago School Boarding Home and will work closely with the Admissions, Marketing, Heads of Stages and Counseling teams with management, organisation and logistics. Student support and Development:
- Foster relationships by building community with boarding students, parents and staff.- Help students navigate life as a boarding student as it relates to personal well being, academics and environment.- Ensure, teach and launch the English and or Spanish for foreigners- immersion programmes in Our Boarding Home the time necessary for the Boarding students to make the most of their stay at Yago Boarding Home.- Ensure a welcoming and adaptation process including the development of an immersion and support programme.- In cooperation with the class tutor and Heads of stages, monitor academic concerns.- In cooperation with the Counseling and SEN department, monitor the students wellness and emotional needs.Residential Life- Oversee the opening and closing of Boarding Home at the beginning and end of each term and the school year.- Organise and implement afterschool and weekend activities.- Oversee the needs of the students including transportation, activities, food, health and wellness, discipline and academic needs. (He will drive the Boarding students to the Hospital or Health Centers, to the Clubs to participate in extracurricular activities…)- Create duty schedules for boarding home staff and monitors.- Develop and maintain a discipline system for student infractions, including regular room inspections- Be present and involved in residential events and activities to build strong connections with boarding studentsCommunication- Schedule regular meetings with the headmaster- Schedule regular meetings with the boarding home staff- Support work of Admissions and Marketing in areas applicable to Boarding home.- Support work of Heads of Stages in the Academic areas- Maintain regular communication with students' families and assist families in communicating with school staff and vice versa.- Providing content for school social media, newsletters, and other publications.- Develop a Boarding home handbook and welcome pack for new boarding students.- Develop all the protocols so that Boarding Students, Parents and Staff know what, when, who and how to do things.
- Work with communications to develop a system for regular communications with residential students' parents.- Provide VISA support for incoming students.- Provide validation of transcripts vía Extranjería as needed.Salary 45.000€
