Función
Actively participate in the development of the lettuce breeding program in Southeast Spain, working closely with the breeder to ensure the quality and effectiveness of field and greenhouse activities, and to support the introduction of competitive new varieties to the market.

Contribute to the development of new lettuce varieties adapted to the Spanish market by providing technical and logistical support during the trial, evaluation, selection, and plant multiplication phases, in coordination with the breeding team and operational and commercial departments.

As a Breeding Assistant, you will support the lettuce breeder in the execution of the breeding program in Southeast Spain. Your work will involve field activities (mainly in the Murcia region) and frequent visits to the Águilas breeding station, as well as other growing areas depending on breeding targets. You will be responsible for organizing and monitoring T2 / T3 trials, evaluating field plots, selecting plants, managing seed logistics, organizing crossings, and supervising greenhouse activities. You will also collaborate with the development and sales teams to ensure that new varieties meets market requirements.
* Academic background in agronomy, plant breeding, or plant sciences.
* Practical knowledge of plant physiology, pathology, and field trial management.
* Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Teams).
* Fluent in English (spoken and written).
* Strong autonomy, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
* Excellent communication and a collaborative mindset across departments (breeding, operations, sales).
* Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently.

You will be part of the R&D team of Vilmorin-Mikado Ibérica, working closely with the local breeder, field technicians, operations team, and sales force in both Spain and France. The position requires mobility within the Murcia region (between Cartagena and Murcia) and frequent travel to Águilas.
