As an **Instrument Engineer** for **Dow**, you will provides specialized instrument support and solutions for project teams, operations and maintenance. You can understand and implement Most Effective Technology (MET), work process, tools and industry best practices within the instrument discipline. You would support both projects and technical support teams as a lead for their discipline, requiring conceptual knowledge of theories, techniques and methodology within the instrument technology discipline.Also, you can complete each of the following tasks:- Serve as the leader of the project within their discipline. Has accountability for project results and for the implementation of and adherence to all relevant work processes, best practices and code requirements.- Responsible for instrument design tasks on the project from initial conception through contract issue, including cost estimating, instrument justification/selection and construction support during the construction and start-up stages.Drive front end loading to ensure clear scope definition along with establishing plans and schedules to enable adequate control during execution.- Direct activities within their discipline and coordinates activities with other disciplines.- Lead the completion of deliverables provided to estimating and reviews output of the estimate to ensure accurate reflection of scope.- Lead technical contract package development and supports implementation. Direct designers/drafters in bid package creation. Conceptualize plans, details and sections to accurately convey construction or fabrication requirements.- Interacts with all disciplines to minimize disconnects and errors in the design. Check data in the field.- Responsible for instrument specifications for inquiry and order, transmittals, and bid evaluation and ensuring these are in accordance with the Dow acceptable manufacturers/suppliers lists.- Coordinate and analyze vendor supplied drawings and incorporate the required information into project drawings.- Drive value engineering and economic designs to ensure the best value is delivered to the business.- Understand and Safety Instrumented Systems and their requirements.- Provide consultation to clients on technical issues (DCS, instrument, etc.).
