OBJECTIVE

Product Food Safety and Compliance Specialist to work within the Quality team and closely with customers, supporting the Business by ensuring that products are safe, fit for purpose, and with high quality.

Responsibilities Food Safety
* Implement the Huhtamaki Group Food Packaging Safety Policy.
* Provide technical expertise regarding legal or customer requirements related to Product Safety. Act as the main contact for our customers’ Compliance departments and collaborate with Huhtamaki’s Sales and New Product Development departments.
* Manage customer complaints impacting Food Safety and proactively define improvements in the Quality and Food Safety control plan.
* Manage and develop relationship with the 3rd party testing laboratories and institutes. Develop our FCM testing process to improve the quality and lead time of the delivered work.
* Perform and/or organize risk assessments for materials used and substances present in the products on scientifically acceptable methods.
* Manage and develop internal systems for product safety supporting documentation (such as product declaration of compliance (DoC) and raw material supplier regulatory data sheets (RDS)). Provide related training for the internal stakeholders.
* Liaise, when necessary, with regulatory authorities.
* Represent the company in in trade associations or customer led FCM related working groups. Communicate the necessary information to the relevant stakeholders.
* Manage the company’s Microbiological Control Programme and agreed with customers.
* Control and verify operations associated with hygiene risks according to established procedures.
* Conduct and maintain the Hazard Analysis (HARA), Food Defence and Anti-Fraud Programme, as per established procedures.
* Manage all outsourced hygiene and food safety activities with external providers.
Legal Product Compliance
* Monitor regulatory developments in Food Contact Materials (FCM) and emerging issues. Assess the potential impacts.
* Provide internal training to relevant stakeholders.
Evaluation And Auditing
* Ongoing and approval evaluation of suppliers of raw materials, products, and services.
* Conduct internal audits within the scope of the Annual Internal Audit Programme.
* Participate in external audits by Certification Bodies and customers and collaborate on action plans to address identified non-conformities.
* Manage FDA-IMS and CE Marking audits as part of legal compliance required by customers.
* Manage Product Compostability Certification.
Integrated Management System
* Collaborate in maintaining, developing, and continuously improving the Integrated Management System, including ensuring compliance with Quality and Hygiene standards in the production process.
* Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of Food Safety standards based on the BRCGS Packaging standard.
* Manage the company’s Calibration Programme.
* Actively contribute to Quality and Food Safety training for factory personnel.
Required/Desirable Training
* University degree, preferably in Food Safety.
* Up to date knowledge and familiar with relevant direct food contact material regulations in Europe and the USA: such as the (EC) 1935/2004, (EC) 10/2011, German BfR Recommendations for paper and board in food contact, and U.S. FDA regulations.
* Knowledge about chemical legislation (such as REACH) and biocides seen as a benefit.
* Knowledge about BRCGS Packaging with minimum work experience in GFSI-certified companies.
* Knowledge about integrated management systems. Alternatively, minimum work experience in companies certified to ISO 9001 or 14001.
* Advanced English.
* Advanced IT skills (Office).
* Desirable: advanced training in FSC and PEFC forest chain of custody.
* Desirable: knowledge of continuous improvement tools (KAIZEN, PDCA, 4M, etc.).
Experience
* 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role and in companies certified in GFSI Food Safety Systems. Experience in HARA, supplier evaluation, auditing, and others.
