Research Scientists In Artificial Intelligence Applied To Cryo Electron Tomography (Predoc/Postdoc)
role at
CSIC .The Instituto Biofisika (IBF) is a joint research centre of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), focusing on fundamental and translational biophysics research. Located at the Leioa Campus, the centre offers a highly collaborative environment.Successful candidates will join the Laboratory for Numerical Methods of Cryo Electron Tomography (cryoET), led by Dr. Daniel Castaño Díez. The group advances computational methodologies for analyzing 3D cellular imagery, primarily through its in-house software platform Dynamo. Recent projects have revealed insights into exocytosis mechanisms using cryo-electron tomography, and the team now aims to extend these tools with deep learning techniques for identifying small, flexible proteins in their natural environments. The role involves developing new methodologies, maintaining software, and analyzing cryoET datasets from external collaborators. Candidates should hold degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields, with a strong background in Matlab, and an interest in Life Sciences research.Necessary qualifications include experience in Deep Learning and/or AI methods, solid knowledge of numerical mathematics, and proficiency in MATLAB, Python, C++, and/or CUDA. Desirable skills include experience in Electron and Light Microscopy image processing, and Molecular Dynamics simulations. The position has flexible start dates aiming for Fall 2025, with funding secured until August 2029. Salaries range from €27,000–€42,000 for BSc/MSc holders and €38,000–€53,000 for PhD holders, aligned with skills and experience.Interested applicants should send a single PDF including their CV with academic record and a motivation letter to ******.Additional Details
