BI Data Specialist (m/w/d)
(Belgium, Poland, Spain or Portugal)
Your Mission
The BI Data Specialist is responsible for designing, building, testing, maintaining, and supporting BI solutions focused on Data Science and Data Engineering for Puratos companies worldwide.
Additionally, this role contributes to the organization by identifying and carrying out improvements within the Data Science environment to boost the overall performance of the Puratos Group.
What You Will Do
The BI Data Specialist will be responsible for delivering solutions within the domains of Data Science and Data Engineering, implementing projects in the BI area related to an evolving regulatory environment, business development and simplification initiatives, ensuring seamless collaboration and continuous support to the Data Science team.
Within their scope of responsibilities, the BI Data Specialist will ensure that the BI Manager, and when appropriate, the Group ICT Director, are kept informed of relevant activities.
Main responsibilities:
Design and implementation of the approved new applications and reporting requirements:
Partner with the Data Science team and business owners to gather requirements and prepare new BI and AI projects.
Develop and deliver data solutions that empower the Data Science team, leveraging the Azure BI landscape and Microsoft Fabric to address their analytical and operational needs.
Propose architecture and technical design that address identified business needs.
Design, develop, and implement BI applications, data models, ETL flows, and dashboards.
Ensure all implementation activities adhere to best practices, internal policies, and compliance requirements.
Identify and facilitate organizational changes as appropriate and needed.
Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date technical documentation.
Propose and develop solutions to address gaps in current systems or processes.
Transfer necessary knowledge to key users, promoting correct application usage and self-service of BI applications.
Design and implement authorization models to ensure data security for sensitive and critical data and processes.
Proactively identify and investigate potential improvements or innovations within the Data Science and Data Engineering areas.
Develop, implement, and maintain standards and procedures for BI applications to ensure consistency and quality.
What We Expect From You
Interested in exploratory data analysis, statistical modeling, machine learning and data visualization.
Technical knowledge:
Expert knowledge of Azure data services: ADF/Synapse/Azure Batch/Azure Functions/Data Lake & Blob Storage and/or Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Databases, Analytics, OneLake).
Knowledge of SQL and Python.
Knowledge of Data Modelling Principles (Star/Snowflake Schema, Medallion architecture), ETL / ELT Design, API Integration.
Understanding of authorizations:
IAM / RBAC / AD Groups.
Understanding of BI visualization tools (Power BI, Qlik, SAC) and other Data solutions (SAP BW/4HANA, Databricks, Snowflake) is an asset.
Being able to solve problems and develop solutions using the knowledge and understanding of business processes.
Being able to communicate and translate IT talk into business language.
Customer minded, with demonstrated initiative and flexibility to optimize contact with the different business units and entities.
Fluent in English (Spoken & Written) - any other language is an asset.
At least 2 years of data engineering knowledge.
University degree or the equivalent by experience.
