Telefonica Research is a leading industrial research lab based in Barcelona (Spain). The aim of the lab is to carry research studies on mid to long-term related to several technological areas of interest to the Telefónica Group. The Research group follows an open research model in collaboration with universities and other research institutions, promoting the dissemination of their work both through publications and technology transfer. The board is constituted of a multi-disciplinary team with a variety of skills that includes systems, networks, HCI, Machine Learning and Privacy / Security. We are seeking candidates for staff researcher positions to strengthen and complement our efforts in the areas we currently work on, particularly in the privacy and security of machine learning techniques.
MISSION
The researcher will have the opportunity to propose and develop research ideas individually and jointly with the rest of the Telefonica research team, as well as with other Telefonica units. The researcher will also strengthen the research work via the creation and leading of strong collaborative associations with academic institutions, industrial partners, customers, and government agencies. Furthermore, the researcher will work on dissemination of research results via publications and demonstrations in major venues worldwide, generation of intellectual property, and partnership with business units to ensure the successful exploitation of research outputs. Finally, the researcher will pursue available funding opportunities at the National, European and International level.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY
1. Propose and develop research ideas for advancing the state of the art in their field.
2. Create and lead strong collaborative associations with academic institutions, industrial partners, customers, and government agencies.
3. Disseminate research results via publications and demonstrations in major academic and industrial venues worldwide.
4. Generate Intellectual Property for Telefonica research team and other units.
5. Seek partnerships with business (and other Telefonica) units to ensure the successful exploitation of research outputs.
6. Supervise intern students, collaborate openly with other researchers, as well as other Telefonica members.
7. Pursue funding opportunities for personnel and/or equipment and/or research visits, via proposal writing and submission for National and/or European and/or International competitive grants.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
Ph.D. in Computer Science, Telecommunication, Privacy / Security, Networking or any related fields. (Or PhD expected in next few months).

1. Proven track of strong research output (e.g., publications to top venues).
2. Strong verbal, visual, and written communication skills.
3. Ability to work in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment.
4. Ability to communicate their ideas and results effectively and concisely.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
1. Strong knowledge and experience for research in the area of security and privacy of machine learning systems.
2. Strong knowledge and experience for research with tools (e.g., methodologies, software, testbeds, models, etc.) related to the above areas.
